Rye Country Day School is seeking a Per Diem Security Officer beginning in December 2026. Rye Country Day School is a coeducational, Pre K-12, college preparatory school located in Westchester County, New York dedicated to providing students with an excellent education using both traditional and innovative approaches. Specific responsibilities of the position include:
- Maintain a visible, professional, and welcoming security presence to support a safe environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
- Monitor campus access, verify visitors, and follow established visitor management procedures.
- Conduct campus patrols to identify and report safety concerns, security issues, and unusual activity.
- Assist with traffic flow, parking, and pedestrian safety during school activities and special events.
- Respond to incidents and emergencies in accordance with school procedures and coordinate with the security team and emergency responders as needed.
- Communicate concerns promptly and prepare clear, accurate incident reports.
- Use school security and communication systems as directed.
- Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and event organizers while maintaining confidentiality and exercising sound judgment.
Desired qualifications:
- Previous experience in law enforcement, security, or a related field; experience in a school setting is preferred.
- Applicable New York State security guard registration and training credentials.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact respectfully with students of all ages, families, employees, and visitors.
- Sound judgment and the ability to remain calm and respond effectively in emergency situations.
- Reliability, punctuality, and flexibility to accept assignments during school hours, evenings, and weekends.
- Comfort using security technology, communication equipment, and basic computer applications.
- Ability to perform campus patrols and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- CPR, AED, and first aid certification preferred.
