We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead commercial electrical construction projects from preconstruction through final closeout. This position will have full project ownership, including scheduling, budgeting, procurement, manpower planning, project financials, field coordination, change management, and client communication.
The ideal candidate has 5+ years of project management experience with a self-performing commercial electrical contractor and understands both the technical and financial aspects of electrical construction. Experience managing complex commercial projects such as healthcare, higher education, institutional, manufacturing, or large-scale commercial facilities is highly preferred.
This is a hands-on project leadership role for someone who can work closely with field teams, clients, general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, estimating, and BIM/VDC teams to deliver projects safely, profitably, and on schedule.
Responsibilities
- Manage commercial electrical construction projects from preconstruction through completion, commissioning, and closeout.
- Take ownership of project budgets, schedules, manpower plans, procurement, forecasting, and overall project performance.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules and coordinate milestones with field operations and other project stakeholders.
- Monitor project financials, including labor productivity, job costs, billing, cash flow, change orders, forecasting, and profitability.
- Coordinate closely with superintendents, foremen, electricians, subcontractors, suppliers, and general contractors.
- Review electrical drawings, specifications, contracts, schedules, and other construction documents to identify scope requirements and potential issues.
- Manage RFIs, submittals, material procurement, change orders, commissioning, punch lists, and project closeout.
- Coordinate project handoffs between estimating, preconstruction, BIM/VDC, and operations teams.
- Work with BIM/VDC teams on coordination, constructability, clash resolution, and installation planning.
- Lead project meetings and maintain clear communication with owners, architects, engineers, general contractors, and internal teams.
- Identify and proactively resolve issues involving schedule, budget, procurement, manpower, scope, and field execution.
- Review subcontractor and vendor performance and address issues affecting project cost, schedule, or quality.
- Maintain strong client and project partner relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with contractual requirements, company standards, quality expectations, and safety requirements.
Requirements
- 5+ years of Project Management experience with a commercial electrical contractor.
- Required: Direct experience working for a self-performing commercial electrical contractor.
- Proven experience managing commercial electrical projects from preconstruction through closeout.
- Strong understanding of commercial electrical systems, installation methods, sequencing, coordination, and field operations.
- Experience managing project schedules, budgets, procurement, labor planning, billing, forecasting, change orders, and profitability.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, contracts, schedules, and construction documents.
- Experience coordinating with estimating, preconstruction, BIM/VDC, field operations, and project leadership teams.
- Strong understanding of electrical project costs, labor productivity, material procurement, and project financials.
- Proficiency with construction project management software and Microsoft Office.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with healthcare, higher education, institutional, manufacturing, industrial, or other complex commercial projects is highly preferred.
