The Opportunity:
We’re looking to fill an opening for a Responsible Investment Analyst to join our Asset Management team for 6 months.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Head of Responsible Investing, the Responsible Investment Analyst will focus on supporting our proprietary Evaluations, Corporate Engagement, Proxy Voting, and Policy work to help maintain and evolve our leading expertise in Responsible Investment (RI) solutions to Canadian investors.

What your day looks like:
- Conduct research on existing and emerging ESG risks and opportunities to support NEI’s strategic stewardship work
- Monitor news daily, assessing headline risk for companies in assigned sectors and tracking new sector-specific developments
- Identify material ESG risks and solutions for companies in our portfolios
- Actively participate in the engagement program by conducting company research, preparing briefing notes, organizing meetings with companies and other stakeholders, participating in company dialogues, taking meeting notes and providing input on measuring engagement impact
- Represent NEI in various external collaborations and working groups, developing relationships with peers and subject matter experts
- Support the policy program by tracking relevant policy developments, identifying submission opportunities, and providing supporting research for policy positions
- Support the proxy voting program by monitoring upcoming Annual Shareholder Meetings for assigned companies, providing input on key shareholder resolutions and depending on experience with proxy voting, executing timely votes according to NEI’s voting guidelines
- Conduct ESG evaluations to determine eligibility and monitor ongoing controversies for the publicly traded companies in our portfolio
Requirements
Your experience and skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field of study
- Minimum three years’ experience in a research function in business, government, academic or nongovernmental organizations
- Superior data management and analytical skills
- Excellent research and investigation skills
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Strong affinity for collaboration
- Deep understanding of ESG factors and their influence on company risk
- Understanding of how to integrate multiple data sources into a proprietary ESG evaluation framework
- Ability to turn data into meaningful ESG insights
- Experience as an asset manager and familiarity with the needs of investment advisors an asset
- Experience with oil and gas, transportation and/or industrials sectors an asset
- Experience with ESG, impact, proxy voting and/or shareholder advocacy an asset
- Fluent communication skills in English are required and bilingual skills in French are an asset

Salary
This position is posted with an expected salary range of $65,000 - $75,000 CAD annually. Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate and the requirements of the position.
