The posting

About the role

We’re looking for a frontend developer who combines strong React engineering skills with an eye for design and a clear understanding of what makes software enjoyable to use.

Working within FormPhil team, as a part of CORTO, in ATI, one of the world’s largest legal technology companies, you’ll partner closely with our UX/UI Lead and full-stack developers to turn functional interfaces into polished, usable, intuitive user experiences.

You’ll contribute ideas, explore alternative approaches, and bring thoughtful details to the finished product, from the way an interaction responds to how an application guides users through a complex task. You’ll understand the intent behind a design and know how to carry that intent through to a working application.

How you’ll work with the team

For cross-functional features, our full-stack developers will typically build the backend and an initial frontend implementation. You’ll take that implementation further: refining the interface, improving interactions, strengthening the frontend code, and ensuring the experience feels cohesive and complete.

You’ll also collaborate early with the UX/UI Lead and developers to shape interactions, identify reusable patterns, and resolve design and technical questions before they become rework.

This is a hands-on engineering role with responsibility for both the quality of the interface and the code behind it.

What you’ll do

Partner with the UX/UI Lead. Understand the user problem and design intent, contribute fresh ideas, and help explore what is possible. Discuss trade-offs constructively and suggest improvements that make the product clearer, simpler, and easier to use.

  • Bring designs to life. Translate Figma designs into high-quality React interfaces, with careful attention to layout, typography, spacing, responsive behaviour, and interaction details. Use subtle transitions and feedback where they make the experience more useful.
  • Complete the experience beyond the design. Identify and resolve gaps between static designs and a working application, including loading, empty, error, validation, focus, and disabled states. Exercise sound judgement and collaborate with the UX/UI Lead where decisions need further design input.
  • Elevate frontend implementations. Work alongside full-stack developers to refine initial implementations into production-ready experiences. Improve component structure, state handling, usability, and consistency while preserving the functionality and business requirements of the feature.
  • Build reusable components and patterns. Develop and maintain shared component libraries and frontend conventions. Make common interactions easy to implement consistently, document their use, and help the wider engineering team adopt them.
  • Improve performance and reliability. Identify and address slow loading, unnecessary rendering, and unresponsive interactions. Write maintainable, tested code, participate in code reviews, and build accessibility and cross-browser reliability into the implementation.

What you’ll bring

  • Strong React and TypeScript skills, supported by a solid understanding of JavaScript, semantic HTML, CSS, and modern frontend frameworks and tooling. You can build and maintain substantial applications, not just isolated screens.
  • Strong visual and interaction judgement. You notice when spacing, hierarchy, feedback, or behaviour feels wrong, and can explain how to improve it. You understand that good user experience is about clarity, predictability, and ease of use as much as appearance.
  • Experience working closely with designers. You’re comfortable interpreting Figma designs, discussing design intent, prototyping ideas, and resolving the details that only become apparent during implementation.
  • Sound frontend engineering practices. You have experience with reusable components, application state, API integration, responsive design, accessibility, testing, and performance optimisation. You can improve existing code without introducing unnecessary complexity.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach. You raise issues, propose solutions, and follow through. You’re comfortable refining another developer’s implementation, giving and receiving constructive feedback, and sharing ownership of the finished product.

We’re particularly interested in examples where your contribution made an interface meaningfully better. These could be products, components, or case studies that demonstrate your engineering decisions and attention to user experience.

Even better if you have

Experience with design systems, component documentation tools such as Storybook, complex forms, workflow-heavy applications, or AI-powered interfaces would be useful. An interest in making complex professional software feel straightforward and approachable is especially relevant.

What success looks like

  • The application feels polished and cohesive. Designs retain their intent in production, and transitions, interactions, loading states and error handling receive the same care as the screens themselves.
  • You close the gaps between design and implementation. You use sound judgement where designs do not specify every detail, identifying and resolving usability issues and inconsistencies before they reach customers.
  • Your work makes the whole team more effective. Reusable components, shared patterns and clear frontend standards help developers build better, more consistent interfaces with less duplication and rework.
  • The application stays fast and responsive as it grows. You deliver measurable improvements to loading times and interaction performance, making everyday workflows feel smoother and more seamless.
  • You become a trusted partner to the UX/UI Lead and full-stack developers. They involve you early, seek your input and rely on you to help turn functional features into well-crafted experiences.
  • Your ideas make the product better. You contribute practical improvements to usability and interaction design, with a visible impact on the quality of the experience.

Why join CORTO?

  • Make an impact. You won’t be another ‘cog in the wheel’ here. We give full trust and autonomy for you to be heard, to work on big & complex projects – and to make a real difference.
  • Work with a group of authentic, passionate people who love what they do.
  • Well-funded and global. CORTO is part of ATI Global – one of the largest international LegalTech companies.
  • Flexible and hybrid working. We engage, share, and collaborate on ideas and workflows.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
