The posting

Job Summary:

As a Software Development Engineer II in the CMS Engineering team, you will design, build, and operate end-to-end capabilities across the CMS platform. You will work across the web frontend and backend layers, using modern web technologies along with React and/or Java to deliver reliable, scalable, and intuitive content-management experiences. You will own complex features from technical design and implementation through testing, deployment, monitoring, and operational handoff. The role is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving problems across the stack and are passionate about building high-quality products for content operations at scale.

About the Team:

VoD Video Engineering team is the backbone of our streaming platform — responsible for the entire lifecycle of on-demand video content, from ingest and transcoding through packaging, storage, and delivery. We own mission-critical systems that process thousands of hours of video daily, serving a global audience with reliability, low latency, and the highest quality of experience. Our team operates at the forefront of media technology, collaborating closely with CDN, playback, and content operations teams to continuously raise the bar on performance and scalability. If you're passionate about large-scale distributed systems and the technology behind modern video streaming, this is the team to be on.

Key responsibilities:

  • Own features end to end, from understanding business and operational requirements through design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
  • Build responsive, accessible, and maintainable web applications for CMS and Content Operations workflows.
  • Design and implement backend services, APIs, integrations, and asynchronous workflows using Node.js and/or Java.
  • Develop interfaces and services for metadata management, validation, publishing, scheduling, bulk operations, entity replication, and content administration.
  • Build search, filtering, reporting, and processing-insights capabilities across content, metadata, and asset attributes.
  • Design clear and reliable API contracts between frontend applications and backend services.
  • Integrate CMS with RMS and other internal content, asset, video, and platform services.
  • Apply distributed-systems patterns such as retries, idempotency, timeouts, failure handling, and graceful degradation.
  • Build reusable frontend components and backend patterns that improve consistency, maintainability, and delivery speed.
  • Own production readiness, including testing, performance, resilience, security, deployment, monitoring, and operational handoff.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, incident response, root-cause analysis, and preventive reliability improvements.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, Content Operations, QA, and partner engineering teams to deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, technical design discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional experience building and operating production web applications across frontend and backend layers.
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript and a modern frontend framework, preferably React.
  • Strong experience with Node.js and/or Java with a backend framework such as Spring Boot.
  • Solid understanding of RESTful API design, asynchronous workflows, data modeling, and service integration.
  • Good understanding of HTML, CSS, responsive design, accessibility, browser behavior, and frontend performance.
  • Experience building complex forms, tables, search and filtering interfaces, file uploads, dashboards, and workflow-driven applications.
  • Understanding of databases, caching, messaging systems, event-driven architectures, and distributed-system fundamentals.
  • Experience with relational databases, SQL, Redis or similar caching technologies, and query-performance tuning.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, cloud platforms, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Experience with unit, integration and frontend testing.
  • Comfort with production observability, including logs, metrics, & error tracking.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical approaches and trade-offs clearly.
  • Collaborative mindset with a willingness to mentor others and share knowledge.

Preferred education and experience:

  • Bachelors/Masters in Computer Science or a related field with 3+ years of experience in backend development

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
