At Tutor Me Education, we are revolutionizing the way students learn, and we're seeking passionate teachers and tutors with special education experience to provide 1:1 in-home tutoring in Los Gatos, CA! About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Los Gatos, CA

Details:

  • In-Person Tutoring in Los Gatos, CA
  • Schedule: 25 hours per month, 1.5 hours per session, 3 days a week
  • Pay range is between $25 and $35

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience tutoring elementary-age students in reading, writing, and math
  • Experience supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is preferred
  • Strong background in reading fluency, comprehension, phonics, spelling, vocabulary, and foundational literacy
  • Comfortable teaching foundational and elementary-level math concepts, including multi-digit addition, subtraction with borrowing, multiplication, and math facts
  • Able to teach strategies for understanding and solving math word problems
  • Strong writing skills and experience supporting sentence development, grammar, spelling, and written expression
  • Comfortable helping students expand verbal responses and communicate their ideas with greater confidence
  • Patient, warm, and encouraging with a strong ability to build rapport
  • Bubbly, engaging, and able to make lessons fun and interactive
  • Skilled at breaking down challenging concepts into clear, manageable steps
  • Comfortable using repetition, modeling, visual supports, and guided practice
  • Able to use positive reinforcement and motivating activities to encourage participation
  • Comfortable providing or developing appropriate curriculum materials for tutoring sessions

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized academic support across reading, writing, math, and language development
  • Improve reading accuracy, fluency, and comprehension through guided and leveled reading activities
  • Teach strategies for identifying key information, answering comprehension questions, and understanding unfamiliar words
  • Reinforce phonics, decoding, spelling rules, word recognition, and vocabulary development
  • Support writing through sentence development, spelling, grammar, conventions, and organization of ideas
  • Encourage the student to expand verbal responses and communicate ideas using complete and detailed responses
  • Provide math instruction focused on four-digit addition, subtraction with borrowing, multiplication concepts, multiplication facts, and foundational math skills
  • Teach strategies for understanding math word problems, identifying relevant information, selecting operations, and applying appropriate skills
  • Use structured practice and repetition to strengthen retention and build academic confidence
  • Incorporate games, art activities, coloring, and other hands-on activities to maintain engagement
  • Use positive reinforcement such as verbal praise, stickers, and small rewards when appropriate
  • Adjust instruction based on the student's current academic level, progress, and learning needs
  • Provide curriculum materials and lesson activities appropriate for the student's instructional level
  • Monitor progress and provide consistent encouragement to build confidence and independence
