We are seeking an experienced licensed CPA to join a growing accounting and advisory firm serving high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs, closely held businesses, trusts, and estates.
This is a client-facing role that extends beyond traditional tax compliance. The CPA will be responsible for complex tax preparation and planning while working directly with clients to identify opportunities involving tax efficiency, estate planning, retirement planning, business succession, and long-term wealth preservation.
The ideal candidate is a strong tax professional who enjoys working directly with clients and wants to develop into a broader tax and wealth advisory professional. Responsibilities
- Prepare and review complex federal, state, and local tax returns for high-net-worth individuals, businesses, partnerships, trusts, estates, and other entities.
- Manage year-round tax planning, tax projections, and quarterly estimated tax strategies.
- Analyze client financial and tax situations to identify planning opportunities and potential tax efficiencies.
- Research federal and state tax laws, regulations, and developments and translate them into practical recommendations for clients.
- Assist with trust, estate, fiduciary, and related tax compliance and planning matters.
- Support clients with tax considerations related to retirement planning, business succession, estate planning, and wealth preservation.
- Participate in client meetings and clearly communicate complex tax concepts, planning strategies, and recommendations.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients and serve as a trusted tax and advisory resource.
- Work closely with senior professionals on complex tax, planning, and advisory engagements.
- Review tax returns, workpapers, schedules, and supporting documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Manage multiple client engagements, deadlines, and deliverables throughout the year.
- Identify opportunities to improve client service and expand advisory relationships.
- Stay current on changes in tax legislation, accounting standards, and wealth-planning strategies.
Requirements
- Active CPA license required.
- 1–3+ years of experience in public accounting, tax, or a related advisory environment.
- Hands-on experience preparing and reviewing individual and business tax returns.
- Experience with partnerships, trusts, estates, and fiduciary taxation strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of federal and state taxation and tax compliance requirements.
- Interest in developing beyond traditional compliance into tax planning and wealth advisory.
- Strong tax research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to review complex financial information.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax matters in a clear, client-friendly manner.
- Demonstrated ability to develop trusted client relationships and deliver a high level of client service.
- Ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to work extended hours during tax season.
- Must be able to work on-site in Oradell, NJ.
