The posting

WAM Technical Field Manager, Peru

The starting salary package for this position is £65,324 GBP / approx. $88,700 USD including all allowances.

This is an unaccompanied post.

About MAG:

MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is an international humanitarian organisation based in Manchester, UK, and working in 32 countries. We remove landmines and unexploded ordnance to release safe and productive land for communities, and work to reduce the threat of armed violence by supporting governments to safely manage weapons and ammunition. In 1997, MAG was a co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for our work campaigning for the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention.

About the role:

Our Technical Field Managers are the core of our work and actively manage and lead our teams of staff to safely implement our life saving Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) projects. Reporting to the Technical Operations Manager, you will implement all aspects of Weapons and Ammunition Management (WAM) and related tasks in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures. This will include performing large scale EOD operations across the country, delivery of training to stakeholders, rehabilitation and/or construction of new facilities and monitoring of all staff carrying out technical operations to ensure safe practices and in order to build a local capacity for WAM activities. In addition, you will support the Technical Operations Manager (TOM) in ensuring overall safe execution of all MAG technical activities within the country.

About the Peru programme:

Since 2017, MAG has been conducting dedicated Physical Security and Stockpile Management (PSSM) activities in Peru. Currently, it is implementing a Conventional Weapons Destruction Programme and additional capacity building activities, both of which are funded by the US Government.

MAG effort in Peru is focused on enhancing the national PSSM capacity and reducing the risk and impact of unplanned explosions at munitions sites (UEMS) as well as the consequences of weapons and munitions being diverted to the illicit arms trade. Unplanned explosions and arms proliferation both have a devastating humanitarian impact and strategically destabilising consequences; both of these issues represent a tangible concern in Peru and in the wider Latin America and Caribbean Region (LAC). Recently MAG is carrying out a scale-up of its business operation in Peru and in the LAC region.

Requirements

You must hold a valid IMAS EOD 3+ qualification, or relevant equivalent qualification, and have significant experience working as an EOD specialist including current experience performing EOD duties. You must be determined and pro-active, with experience in the safe management of large scale demolitions, pyrotechnics disposal, and battle area clearance. You should be a strong communicator, confident at leading, motivating, and managing a diverse team of people and of delivering weapons ammunition management training. You should have strong technical knowledge, including experience of Air and Navy Services Ordnance. You should be committed to MAG’s humanitarian mandate, and willing to undertake extensive in-country travel, including to remote locations with minimal supervision.

Fluency in English is essential, and Spanish language skills would be highly advantageous.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • An IMAS EOD Level 3+ qualification.
  • Experience in large scale demolitions, pyrotechnics disposal and battle area clearance (BAC).
  • Experience delivering weapons ammunition management training.
  • Experience and knowledge of Air and Navy Services Ordnance.

Please note that as part of MAG's commitment to safeguarding, this post is subject to background checks before an offer of employment is confirmed. For more information on MAG’s approach to safeguarding and background checks on our website.

MAG is committed to the principles of diversity, equality and inclusion. If you think you would be suited to one of our roles we would welcome your application regardless of your background. We strive to provide an inclusive and supportive working environment where all employees feel respected and supported in fulfilling their potential.

Women are strongly encouraged to apply.

  • Insurance: Internationally contracted, programme based staff are automatically covered by MAG's comprehensive insurance package including: Personal accident and medical expenses insurance; Death by natural causes insurance and access to 24-hour medical assistance.

HOW TO APPLY

Please apply by submitting an application detailing your suitability for the role through the link below before the closing date of Friday 9th October 2026. This deadline has been extended due to a change in the programme's timeline to hire. If you have already applied for this role, you do not need to reapply.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
