Job Title- HR Business Partner – Commercial

Location: Surulere, Lagos

Work Structure: Full-time

Our client is a leading agribusiness with an integrated value chain spanning the sourcing, processing, and distribution of essential agricultural commodities.

Role Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and commercially oriented HR Business Partner to support the Commercial function across Nigeria. The successful candidate will partner with Commercial leadership to align people strategies with business objectives, strengthen sales team performance, and support talent and capability development.

The ideal candidate should have strong HR business partnering experience within a commercial/sales environment, particularly experience supporting or managing a distributed sales workforce. Experience managing a sales trainee programme will be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial HR Business Partnership

  • Partner with Commercial leadership to develop and implement people strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Provide HR guidance on workforce planning, employee engagement, performance, talent, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the Commercial function and its workforce requirements.

Sales Team & Talent Management

  • Support and manage HR activities for a distributed sales team across Nigeria.
  • Drive performance management, employee development, engagement, and retention initiatives.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and workforce planning for Commercial roles.
  • Identify capability gaps and coordinate relevant training and development initiatives.
  • Support succession planning and career development for commercial talent.
  • Experience managing a sales trainee programme, including recruitment, development, and career progression, is an advantage.

Employee Relations & HR Advisory

  • Advise managers on employee relations, performance issues, grievances, and disciplinary matters.
  • Support the implementation of HR policies and ensure compliance with Nigerian labour regulations.
  • Support organizational change and other people-related initiatives within the Commercial function.

HR Analytics & Reporting

  • Provide HR data and insights to support Commercial workforce decisions.
  • Monitor workforce trends, performance, retention, and engagement across the sales team.
  • Prepare relevant HR reports and presentations for management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in HR Business Partnering, preferably within a commercial, sales, FMCG, agribusiness, or fast-paced environment.
  • Proven experience supporting a distributed sales workforce.
  • Experience in performance management, talent development, employee relations, and workforce planning.
  • Experience managing a sales trainee programme is an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian labour laws and HR practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; HRIS experience is an advantage.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to work across different locations in Nigeria.
