We're looking for an experienced Staff Software Engineer to help shape our technical direction, solve complex engineering challenges, and elevate how our teams build software. This role is ideal for a seasoned engineer who combines deep technical expertise with strong architectural judgment, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead through influence.

This is a full-time, hybrid position requiring 1 day per week in the office to support close cross-functional collaboration.

Day in the Life:

  • Lead complex engineering initiatives, coordinating work across engineers and AI coding agents to ensure high-quality, predictable delivery.
  • Own squad architecture and technical direction, designing scalable solutions and reusable components.
  • Drive engineering excellence through design reviews, code quality, system reliability, and continuous improvement.
  • Design and improve AI-augmented engineering workflows, including code generation, testing, and documentation.
  • Partner with Engineering, Product, and cross-functional teams to translate business needs into effective technical solutions.
  • Mentor engineers, resolve complex technical challenges, and influence engineering practices across teams.

Who You Are:

  • 10+ years of experience building, architecting, and scaling production software systems.
  • Deep expertise in at least one programming language (JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Java, Go, Ruby, PHP, C#, etc.), with the ability to adapt across different technology stacks.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals, excellent problem-solving skills, and sound architectural judgment.
  • Proven ability to lead complex engineering initiatives, coordinate work across engineers, and drive predictable delivery.
  • Experience designing scalable, reusable solutions and making sound technical trade-offs between short-term needs and long-term value.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and AI-augmented engineering workflows.
  • Strong technical leadership and communication skills, with the ability to mentor engineers and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience owning production systems, overseeing deployments, and driving system reliability and continuous improvement.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Ruby on Rails or Node.js. Experience with both is a plus.
  • Familiarity with React, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis.
  • Experience with AWS, Terraform, microservices, and distributed systems.
  • Experience working with globally distributed engineering teams across multiple time zones.
