Job Description

As one of the world’s leading outsourced chief investment officer providers and an investment consulting firm with trillions of dollars of assets under advice, WTW’s Investment practice uses broad and sophisticated frameworks for managing risk to bring our innovative advisory, management and research expertise to improve investment outcomes for asset owners. Emphasis on leading internal research has always been part of our history which goes back over 35 years.

Climate change and climate transition issues are increasingly complex meaning investors need solutions and advice that address the important practical transition questions they are grappling with. These questions are as pertinent as ever and, we believe, will become more pronounced over time as the transition progresses and asset owners are required to weigh emerging trade-offs. We are in a strong position to help investors - driving financial solutions and enabling investor actions that manage climate-related financial risk and support the transition.

WTW’s Investment practice is recognized as an industry leader in the climate space. We are looking for someone to join our climate transition team. We are seeking a Senior Analyst Climate Transition Analytics to develop our Climate Transition Value at Risk (CTVaR) analytics, which feed into the indices used in client portfolios. Its core focus is directing capital through these indices and other investment solutions. There are also opportunities to deliver advisory projects helping asset owners to understand the climate transition and develop appropriate practices.

This hybrid role requires working from the London office for at least two days per week.

The Role

  • Work closely with the team lead to deliver the transition team’s analysis of companies and sectors. Contribute to process evolution and system improvements.
  • Take lead responsibility for research and analysis for a series of companies and sectors. This will include developing or updating in-house views on the most likely technology and policy trends driving decarbonisation across sectors and determining the potential economic and financial impact on companies and financial institutions.
  • Synthesise and analyse large datasets, efficiently and effectively using quantitative and business modelling tools.
  • Effectively communicate the results and implications of our analysis to a range of external and internal audiences.
  • Network and interact with policy makers, industry groups or other stakeholders to ensure analysis undertaken is policy relevant.
  • Work with the wider Investment practice to design products and services to leverage the climate transition team’s analytical insights.
  • Work with our Investment practice consulting and sustainable investing teams as a specialist to help them advise asset owners regarding exclusion policies; climate scenarios; climate metrics; company engagement guidance and progress tracking.
  • Speak at external events, to reinforce WTW Investment’s reputation as a leading group within the investment industry for climate analysis that is focused solving the practical transition questions investors are grappling with.

Qualifications

What you'll bring

  • the findings into clear recommendations, models and presentations
  • Strong Excel skills and prefer someone with Python skills, to help oversee and improve the team's analytical tools alongside the programming team
  • Fluent English is essential and fluency in other languages is desirable
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain complex qualitative and quantitative analysis to both expert and non-technical audiences
  • A self-starter who can plan, prioritise and manage several complex tasks at once
  • A methodical approach to research, modelling and documentation
  • A collaborative team player
  • A strong academic record, ideally a degree in economics, finance, engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience in energy or climate policy, or of low-carbon technologies
  • Prefer experience in a government or private-sector organisation working on the climate transition, such as a consultancy, think tank, financial institution or utility

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
