About The Project:

Frankfurt Zoological Society (FZS) is an internationally operating nature conservation organisation based in Germany, supporting conservation projects in Africa, South America, Southeast Asia, and Europe for many decades. Guided by our mission to conserve wildlife and ecosystems, we focus on protected areas and outstanding wild places. In South America, FZS concentrates its efforts on the Amazon rainforest and has expanded its engagement in the region in recent years, aiming to increase its impact on this globally important biome and all associated biodiversity. Established in 2024, FZS Brazil (FZSB) is in its first year of operation, working in close partnership with ICMBio in focal areas such as the Pico da Neblina National Park, Serra do Divisor National Park and Juami Japurá Ecological Station.

About The Position:

We are seeking a Communications Officer with a passion for nature to organize and implement brand standardization in the FZSB documents and environment office, produce high-quality multimedia content, and enhance our communication workflows in long-term conservation of the Amazon in Brazil.

The position will be based in Manaus, Brazil.

Your Tasks:

  • Implement FZS brand standards across office environments and institutional documents in Brazil Office, produce high-quality multimedia content, and coordinate internal newsletters, optimizing communication workflows, templates, and SOPs to strengthen institutional information flows;
  • Gather data from project coordinators and teams, transforming technical information into clear, visual, and engaging content for management reports;
  • Develop communication materials such as factsheets, infographics, presentations, and impact summaries that showcase conservation results and support accountability;
  • Conduct periodic visits to program sites in the Amazon to document activities, source content directly from the field, and collaborate with teams and partners;
  • Create, adapt, and coordinate high-quality written, photographic, and audiovisual content for FZSB’s website, social media, press, and other communication channels;
  • Provide input and materials for FZS’s global channels (including *Gorilla* magazine, the Annual Report, and the headquarters’ website and social media);
  • Serve as the primary liaison between FZSB and the global communication team, ensuring that local stories and achievements reach headquarters;
  • Ensure the application of and adherence to FZS branding guidelines and communication standards at the local level;
  • Organize and maintain archives of photos, videos, and communication materials, establishing standards for metadata, storage, and the efficient retrieval of visual content;
  • Provide ongoing support to strengthen organizational communication systems and improve data flow across departments.

Your Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Environmental Communication, or a related area;
  • At least 4–5 years of relevant experience in communication;
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications, graphic design and layout software and advanced English with ability to collaborate effectively with international colleagues;
  • Proven experience in creating and producing professional communication materials for both digital and print media with strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate technical conservation information into clear, engaging content for diverse audiences;
  • Skills in photography and basic video production/editing will be considered an advantage;
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Residence in Manaus (AM) with availability and willingness to travel to remote areas where FZSB programs are based in the Brazilian Amazon
  • A passion for nature conservation.

We Offer:

  • A challenging and meaningful role contributing to the development of FZS in Brazil;
  • A dynamic and motivated team and flexible working environment;
  • A fair and competitive salary based on qualifications and experience;
  • CLT contract, 40 hours a week, long term position;
  • Food voucher;
  • Health benefits;
  • Life insurance;
  • Transport voucher (optional).

Your Application:

  • Cover letter (1 page)
  • Curriculum vitae (max. 3 pages)
  • Names and contact information of two professional referees
  • Salary expectations and the earliest possible starting date. Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
