The posting

We are sharing a specialised remote consulting opportunity for former U.S. Department of State Consular Officers, Passport Specialists, and Passport Adjudicators with expertise in passport eligibility, citizenship and nationality requirements, identity documentation, and complex consular cases to contribute their professional knowledge to advanced AI training and evaluation initiatives.

Selected professionals will review realistic passport and citizenship inquiries, develop structured evaluation criteria, and assess AI-generated responses for accuracy, completeness, and practical usefulness. The work combines direct experience in passport adjudication and consular services with citizenship documentation review, complex applicant scenarios, and written evaluation to improve how AI systems respond to questions about U.S. passports and nationality matters. Prior experience with AI training projects is not required.

Key Responsibilities

Passport & Citizenship Inquiry Review

  • Review sample questions concerning U.S. passports, citizenship, nationality, and related documentation requirements.
  • Evaluate whether inquiries reflect realistic situations encountered by passport applicants and consular customers.
  • Identify unclear, incomplete, or unrealistic applicant scenarios.
  • Apply professional adjudication or consular experience to assess the accuracy and relevance of sample questions.
  • Recommend improvements to ensure inquiries reflect authentic passport and citizenship service situations.

Passport Eligibility & Complex Application Assessment

  • Develop evaluation criteria for accurate responses concerning passport eligibility and application requirements.
  • Assess guidance involving lost, stolen, or damaged passports and the relevant application procedures.
  • Review explanations of name changes, identity documentation, and supporting evidence requirements.
  • Identify errors or omissions in guidance concerning complex passport applications.
  • Evaluate whether recommended actions appropriately address the applicant's stated circumstances.

Citizenship, Nationality & Special Applicant Cases

  • Review information concerning U.S. citizenship documentation and applicable nationality requirements.
  • Evaluate responses involving passport applications for minors and relevant parental or custody considerations.
  • Assess guidance for applicants born abroad or residing outside the United States.
  • Review explanations of citizenship evidence and supporting documentation in complex cases.
  • Apply professional experience to identify incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated citizenship-related guidance.

AI Response Evaluation & Quality Standards

  • Develop structured rubrics defining accurate and complete answers to passport and citizenship questions.
  • Evaluate AI-generated responses against established accuracy, completeness, and relevance criteria.
  • Identify factual inaccuracies, procedural omissions, outdated guidance, and unclear explanations.
  • Assess whether responses provide practical information appropriate to realistic applicant scenarios.
  • Document evaluation findings and recommend specific improvements to AI-generated guidance.

Technical Documentation & Project Collaboration

  • Prepare clear written feedback explaining identified errors, missing information, and recommended corrections.
  • Document evaluation criteria, relevant passport procedures, and citizenship documentation considerations.
  • Communicate professional insights based on direct experience in passport adjudication or consular operations.
  • Complete assigned reviews independently within an asynchronous project environment.
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy, consistency, and professional written communication throughout project deliverables.

Ideal Profile

  • Former U.S. Department of State experience in a passport agency or consular section.
  • Previous experience as a Passport Specialist, Passport Adjudicator, Consular Officer, or in a comparable Department of State position.
  • At least 1 year of professional experience adjudicating or advising on passport or citizenship matters.
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. passport eligibility and application requirements.
  • Practical understanding of citizenship and nationality rules relevant to passport issuance.
  • Experience reviewing passport applications and assessing supporting identity or citizenship documentation.
  • Familiarity with complex applicant situations involving lost, stolen, or damaged passports.
  • Knowledge of name change procedures and relevant identity documentation requirements.
  • Understanding of passport applications involving minors and custody-related considerations.
  • Familiarity with citizenship documentation for individuals born abroad or residing outside the United States.
  • Ability to identify inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated passport and citizenship information.
  • Experience applying procedural requirements to complex individual applicant circumstances.
  • Strong analytical reasoning and attention to detail when reviewing documentation and eligibility questions.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with an emphasis on clarity, precision, and practical usefulness.
  • Demonstrated ability to explain complex passport or citizenship procedures clearly to applicants.
  • Experience identifying document fraud or reviewing potentially fraudulent identity documentation is advantageous.
  • Experience preparing informational guides, FAQs, procedural checklists, or training materials is beneficial.
  • Experience assisting diverse applicant populations, including non-English-speaking customers, is advantageous.
  • Ability to apply structured evaluation criteria consistently and provide actionable written feedback.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently within a remote project environment.
  • Must be based in the United States.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
