The posting

We are sharing a specialised remote consulting opportunity for experienced Financial Aid Advisors and Student Loan Counselors with strong expertise in federal student loan repayment, income-driven repayment plans, Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF), loan servicing, and borrower assistance to contribute their professional knowledge to advanced AI training and evaluation initiatives.

Selected professionals will review realistic student loan inquiries, develop structured evaluation criteria, and assess AI-generated responses for accuracy, completeness, and practical usefulness. The work combines direct borrower counseling experience with federal student loan repayment expertise, financial assistance guidance, and technical evaluation to improve how AI systems respond to questions about student loans and repayment options. Prior experience with AI training projects is not required.

Key Responsibilities

Federal Student Loan Inquiry Review

  • Review sample questions concerning federal student loans, repayment obligations, and borrower assistance.
  • Evaluate whether inquiries accurately reflect questions commonly received from student loan borrowers.
  • Identify unrealistic scenarios, unclear requests, and missing information in sample borrower questions.
  • Apply practical counseling experience to assess the relevance and authenticity of student loan inquiries.
  • Recommend improvements to ensure questions reflect realistic borrower circumstances and repayment concerns.

Income-Driven Repayment & Loan Forgiveness Evaluation

  • Develop evaluation criteria for accurate guidance concerning federal student loan repayment options.
  • Assess responses involving income-driven repayment (IDR) plans and related borrower considerations.
  • Review explanations of Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) and other applicable forgiveness or relief programmes.
  • Identify incomplete, misleading, or inaccurate information concerning repayment and forgiveness requirements.
  • Evaluate whether recommended next steps appropriately address the borrower's stated circumstances.

Loan Servicing, Deferment & Default Management

  • Assess AI-generated guidance concerning federal student loan servicing and borrower account issues.
  • Review information involving deferment, forbearance, and repayment-related assistance.
  • Evaluate responses to questions about delinquency, default, and potential resolution pathways.
  • Identify errors, omissions, and outdated explanations concerning loan servicing or repayment processes.
  • Apply professional knowledge to determine whether proposed guidance is relevant and practically useful.

AI Response Evaluation & Quality Standards

  • Develop structured rubrics defining correct, complete, and useful answers to federal student loan questions.
  • Evaluate AI-generated responses against established accuracy and completeness criteria.
  • Identify factual inaccuracies, missing guidance, outdated information, and unclear explanations.
  • Assess whether responses provide appropriate and actionable information for realistic borrower situations.
  • Document evaluation findings and recommend specific improvements to response quality.

Technical Documentation & Project Collaboration

  • Prepare clear written feedback explaining identified errors and recommended corrections.
  • Document evaluation criteria, repayment considerations, and relevant borrower assistance procedures.
  • Communicate practical insights based on direct experience counseling student loan borrowers.
  • Complete assigned review activities independently within an asynchronous project environment.
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy, consistency, and written communication throughout assigned deliverables.

Ideal Profile

  • Direct professional experience counseling borrowers on federal student loan repayment and forgiveness options.
  • Background in a university financial aid office, nonprofit student loan counseling organisation, or a comparable borrower assistance role.
  • At least 1 year of experience advising borrowers on income-driven repayment plans, PSLF, or other federal student loan repayment and relief options.
  • Demonstrated knowledge extending beyond financial aid award packaging into repayment and borrower assistance.
  • Strong understanding of federal student loan repayment programmes and related borrower responsibilities.
  • Practical familiarity with income-driven repayment (IDR) plans and their application to borrower circumstances.
  • Experience explaining Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) and related forgiveness considerations.
  • Working knowledge of federal student loan servicing and common borrower account issues.
  • Familiarity with deferment, forbearance, and available repayment assistance mechanisms.
  • Experience advising borrowers experiencing repayment difficulties or loan default.
  • Ability to identify inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated federal student loan guidance.
  • Strong understanding of common borrower questions, repayment concerns, and financial assistance needs.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with an emphasis on clarity, precision, and practical usefulness.
  • Strong analytical reasoning and the ability to evaluate complex borrower scenarios.
  • Demonstrated ability to explain student loan repayment concepts clearly to individuals with varying levels of financial knowledge.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to apply structured evaluation criteria consistently.
  • Experience providing direct borrower support through telephone, online, or in-person counseling.
  • Ability to work independently and provide clear, actionable written feedback.
  • Strong organisational skills and commitment to accurate, professional financial assistance guidance.
  • Must be based in the United States.
  • Availability to begin promptly and commit 15–25 hours per week.
  • Prior experience with AI model training or evaluation projects is not required.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
