  • Apply current ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding guidelines to complex inpatient clinical documentation
  • Evaluate the full inpatient admission to determine appropriate principal and secondary diagnoses
  • Examine clinical documentation for consistency, completeness, and alignment with established coding standards
  • Apply professional coding judgement to identify relevant clinical details, coding distinctions, and documentation requirements

MS-DRG Assignment & Clinical Classification

  • Analyse diagnosis and procedure information to assess appropriate Medicare Severity Diagnosis Related Group (MS-DRG) assignment
  • Evaluate the impact of major complications and comorbidities (MCCs) and complications and comorbidities (CCs) on inpatient classifications
  • Interpret Present on Admission (POA) indicators and their relevance to inpatient coding accuracy
  • Assess relationships between clinical documentation, diagnosis selection, procedural coding, and DRG determination
  • Identify classification discrepancies and explain their implications for coding quality and data integrity

Clinical Documentation Integrity & Coding Compliance

  • Review inpatient clinical documentation for accuracy, completeness, and consistency with applicable coding requirements
  • Identify documentation gaps, conflicting clinical information, and circumstances requiring provider clarification
  • Evaluate opportunities for appropriate physician queries in accordance with established clinical documentation practices
  • Apply official ICD-10 coding guidelines and relevant AHA Coding Clinic guidance to complex coding scenarios
  • Support accurate and consistent interpretation of inpatient documentation while maintaining professional coding standards

AI Training & Clinical Coding Evaluation

  • Review and validate AI-generated clinical notes, medical summaries, diagnosis assignments, and procedure code suggestions
  • Compare AI-generated coding recommendations with actual inpatient documentation and applicable coding guidelines
  • Identify coding inaccuracies, unsupported diagnoses, procedural inconsistencies, and incomplete clinical reasoning
  • Provide structured feedback explaining coding discrepancies, documentation requirements, and appropriate coding approaches
  • Contribute specialised clinical coding expertise to the development and evaluation of AI-assisted inpatient coding workflows

Coding Quality Assurance & Data Validation

  • Review and reconcile diagnosis and procedure coding discrepancies to support clinical data accuracy
  • Evaluate coding outputs for compliance with current classification standards and inpatient coding conventions
  • Enter, review, and validate AI-generated patient information within designated inpatient medical record and encoder systems
  • Produce clear coding explanations, documentation assessments, and structured quality feedback
  • Support the continuous improvement of coding accuracy, clinical documentation quality, and specialised project deliverables

Ideal Profile

  • Active professional coding certification such as Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), RHIA, RHIT, or another relevant AHIMA or AAPC credential
  • Substantial professional experience in inpatient facility coding, clinical documentation improvement, or a closely related healthcare coding role
  • Strong command of ICD-10-CM diagnosis coding and ICD-10-PCS inpatient procedure coding
  • Demonstrated expertise in determining principal and secondary diagnoses across complete inpatient admissions
  • Practical understanding of MS-DRG assignment, MCC/CC classification, and Present on Admission (POA) indicators
  • Experience reviewing complex inpatient medical records and interpreting detailed clinical documentation
  • Familiarity with official ICD-10 coding guidelines, current code sets, and AHA Coding Clinic guidance
  • Ability to identify documentation inconsistencies, coding discrepancies, and opportunities for appropriate provider queries
  • Strong understanding of inpatient coding compliance, clinical documentation standards, and coding quality assurance
  • Experience working with electronic health records, inpatient encoder systems, or comparable clinical coding technologies
  • Excellent analytical reasoning, clinical interpretation, critical-thinking, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accurate diagnosis and procedure coding
  • Ability to communicate coding decisions, clinical documentation findings, and technical explanations clearly
  • Current employment or active professional involvement in inpatient coding, clinical documentation improvement, or related work is preferred
  • Availability to contribute at least 10 hours per week
  • Ability to work independently and contribute effectively to remote, technology-supported research assignments
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted coding, clinical data evaluation, or healthcare technology initiatives is advantageous but not required

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
