The posting

We are sharing a specialised remote consulting opportunity for experienced Life Sciences Research Scientists with doctoral-level qualifications and advanced expertise in experimental biology, molecular research, computational biology, and scientific problem-solving to contribute their knowledge to AI training and evaluation initiatives.

Selected professionals will design challenging scientific problems, develop rigorous reference solutions, and evaluate AI-generated research analyses across experimental and computational life sciences. The work combines hands-on laboratory research experience with advanced scientific reasoning, biological data interpretation, experimental design, and computational methodologies to improve the scientific accuracy, depth, and reliability of advanced AI systems.

Key Responsibilities

Advanced Life Sciences Research & Problem Development

  • Design technically challenging, expert-level scientific problems based on realistic life sciences research scenarios
  • Apply advanced knowledge of molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, immunology, microbiology, and related disciplines
  • Develop scientifically rigorous questions requiring sophisticated biological reasoning and domain-specific expertise
  • Translate complex research concepts into clearly defined problems with objectively verifiable solutions
  • Evaluate scientific assumptions, experimental hypotheses, and biological mechanisms for accuracy and consistency

Experimental Biology & Wet Lab Methodology

  • Assess the scientific validity of experimental designs, laboratory protocols, and research methodologies
  • Evaluate proposed approaches involving PCR/qPCR, cell culture, sequencing preparation, protein analysis, and related laboratory techniques
  • Review experimental controls, methodological assumptions, biological variables, and interpretation strategies
  • Identify weaknesses in experimental design, unsupported conclusions, and inconsistencies between research objectives and laboratory procedures
  • Apply practical laboratory research experience to develop realistic scientific evaluation scenarios

Computational Biology & Multi-Omics Analysis

  • Analyse research problems involving genomics, transcriptomics, single-cell and spatial omics, epigenomics, proteomics, and metabolomics
  • Evaluate bioinformatics workflows, computational analysis pipelines, and biological data interpretation
  • Assess scientific reasoning across structural biology, microbiome research, metagenomics, and systems biology
  • Review quantitative and computational methodologies used in drug discovery and translational research
  • Connect experimental findings with computational results to evaluate the consistency and validity of scientific conclusions

AI Training & Scientific Reasoning Evaluation

  • Review AI-generated scientific responses for factual accuracy, methodological rigour, and depth of reasoning
  • Identify subtle scientific errors, incorrect assumptions, incomplete explanations, and unsupported interpretations
  • Develop detailed evaluation rubrics and reference answers grounded in primary scientific literature
  • Assess whether AI-generated experimental proposals, computational analyses, and research conclusions are scientifically defensible
  • Provide structured expert feedback to improve AI performance across advanced life sciences and scientific problem-solving tasks

Scientific Validation & Research Quality Assurance

  • Validate scientific problems and reference solutions against established experimental and computational methodologies
  • Evaluate research interpretations for consistency with relevant biological principles and published scientific findings
  • Produce clear written explanations documenting scientific reasoning, methodological decisions, and evaluation conclusions
  • Participate in iterative review processes to refine scientific tasks and improve assessment quality
  • Maintain rigorous standards for scientific accuracy, reproducibility, technical documentation, and peer-reviewed deliverables

Ideal Profile

  • Completed PhD in Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Genomics, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Immunology, Neuroscience, Microbiology, or a closely related life sciences discipline
  • Hands-on research experience in an academic, institutional, or industry research laboratory
  • Professional written and spoken English proficiency at C1 level or higher
  • Deep understanding of experimental biology, biological research methodologies, and scientific reasoning
  • Demonstrated expertise in at least one advanced life sciences research specialisation
  • Strong ability to design sophisticated scientific problems and develop accurate, verifiable solutions
  • Experience critically evaluating scientific literature, experimental methods, and research conclusions
  • Practical understanding of molecular and cellular biology, biological mechanisms, and laboratory research procedures
  • Hands-on wet lab experience involving techniques such as PCR/qPCR, cell culture, sequencing library preparation, Western blotting, protein purification, LC-MS sample preparation, or CRISPR workflows is strongly preferred
  • Experience analysing genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, metabolomic, or other biological research datasets
  • Familiarity with computational biology, bioinformatics pipelines, and quantitative biological analysis
  • Understanding of experimental controls, reproducibility, methodological validation, and scientific quality assurance
  • Excellent analytical reasoning, scientific problem-solving, and critical evaluation capabilities
  • Ability to identify subtle technical errors and evaluate complex research interpretations
  • Academic research experience as a postdoctoral researcher, staff scientist, research faculty member, or equivalent is strongly preferred
  • Peer-reviewed publications, particularly as first or corresponding author, are highly valued
  • Doctoral training at a leading research university in the United States, United Kingdom, or another established research environment is preferred
  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex scientific concepts and document research findings clearly
  • Ability to work independently, incorporate peer feedback, and maintain high scientific quality standards
  • Experience with AI-assisted scientific research, computational modelling, or AI model evaluation is advantageous

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
