The posting

We are sharing a specialised remote consulting opportunity for experienced Media, Publishing & Communications Law Attorneys with deep expertise in media transactions, publishing rights, content licensing, First Amendment considerations, and communications regulation to contribute their professional knowledge to advanced AI training and evaluation initiatives.

Selected professionals will analyse sophisticated legal questions, develop and evaluate realistic legal scenarios, and assess AI-generated content across media, publishing, and communications law. The work combines substantive legal expertise with regulatory interpretation, structured legal reasoning, content validation, and quality assurance to help improve the accuracy and reliability of AI systems operating in specialised legal domains. Prior AI experience is not required.

Key Responsibilities

Media, Publishing & Communications Legal Analysis

  • Analyse complex legal questions involving media law, publishing rights, communications regulation, and entertainment transactions
  • Evaluate legal considerations affecting content creation, publication, distribution, and commercial exploitation
  • Interpret relevant statutory provisions, regulatory requirements, and established legal principles across media-related matters
  • Assess legal issues involving editorial responsibility, intellectual property rights, and communications compliance
  • Apply professional legal judgement to identify material legal distinctions, jurisdictional considerations, and fact-dependent outcomes

Content Licensing & Rights Clearance

  • Analyse rights clearance, content licensing, and intellectual property considerations across publishing and media transactions
  • Evaluate hypothetical licensing arrangements involving publishers, broadcasters, content creators, and commercial distributors
  • Examine contractual provisions governing content ownership, usage rights, permissions, and distribution obligations
  • Identify potential legal issues arising from intellectual property restrictions, third-party rights, and licensing requirements
  • Develop realistic legal scenarios reflecting commercial media transactions and content rights management

First Amendment & Broadcast Regulatory Analysis

  • Evaluate pre-publication review scenarios involving First Amendment protections, editorial considerations, and potential legal exposure
  • Analyse communications regulatory questions involving the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and applicable broadcast requirements
  • Examine regulatory compliance obligations affecting media organisations, broadcasters, and communications businesses
  • Identify circumstances where legal conclusions depend on jurisdiction, disputed interpretations, or specific factual developments
  • Apply nuanced legal reasoning to scenarios involving competing legal obligations, commercial pressures, and regulatory expectations

AI Training & Legal Content Evaluation

  • Develop realistic legal questions, case studies, and analytical scenarios reflecting media, publishing, and communications law practice
  • Review and validate AI-generated legal analyses, explanations, and scenario responses for substantive accuracy
  • Identify incomplete reasoning, ambiguous legal conclusions, and areas requiring additional factual or jurisdictional clarification
  • Provide detailed explanations of legal reasoning, including relevant assumptions, limitations, and alternative interpretations
  • Evaluate contributions from other subject-matter professionals for legal accuracy, clarity, and analytical consistency

Legal Research & Quality Assurance Collaboration

  • Conduct structured legal research involving content licensing, media transactions, constitutional considerations, and communications regulation
  • Produce clear legal analyses, scenario assessments, research summaries, and structured evaluation feedback
  • Identify ambiguous or insufficiently framed legal scenarios and communicate clarification requirements to project coordinators
  • Collaborate asynchronously with other legal professionals and project stakeholders through remote communication tools
  • Maintain high standards of analytical accuracy, legal precision, documentation quality, and timely project delivery

Ideal Profile

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active US bar admission in good standing
  • At least 5 years of substantive, hands-on professional experience in media, publishing, entertainment, or communications law
  • Deep expertise in one or more areas including media transactions, publishing rights, content licensing, broadcast regulation, or pre-publication legal review
  • Strong understanding of First Amendment principles, media-related legal obligations, and relevant regulatory frameworks
  • Practical experience advising on rights clearance, licensing agreements, content distribution, or communications compliance
  • Familiarity with FCC regulatory requirements and broadcast-related legal issues
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse complex legal questions involving competing obligations, jurisdictional distinctions, and ambiguous factual circumstances
  • Substantial practical legal experience involving direct advisory or transactional responsibilities
  • A strong corporate law foundation, ideally developed through experience at a Vault 100 law firm
  • Excellent legal research, analytical reasoning, issue-spotting, and attention-to-detail skills
  • Ability to communicate sophisticated legal concepts clearly while documenting the reasoning supporting professional conclusions
  • Strong judgement when evaluating complex scenarios involving commercial, editorial, or regulatory pressures
  • Experience reviewing legal work product and providing constructive, technically precise feedback
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a distributed, remote environment
  • Prior experience with AI training, model evaluation, or legal technology applications is not required

Engagement Details

  • Freelance / contract engagement
  • Fully remote — open worldwide, with active US bar admission required
  • Compensation: $140–$400/hour
  • 5 available openings
  • Specialised legal consulting role spanning media law, publishing rights, communications regulation, and AI training
  • Work will involve legal scenario analysis, content licensing assessment, First Amendment review, regulatory interpretation, and AI-generated content evaluation
  • Assignments will draw on substantive professional experience in media transactions, publishing, broadcast regulation, and related legal matters

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
