The posting

We are sharing a specialised remote consulting opportunity for experienced STEM Professionals and Scientific Domain Experts with strong expertise in scientific reasoning, mathematical problem-solving, computational analysis, Python programming, and AI-assisted coding workflows to contribute their technical knowledge to advanced AI training and evaluation initiatives.

Selected professionals will solve, review, and validate challenging scientific, mathematical, and technical problems within their areas of expertise. The work combines advanced domain knowledge with computational modelling, quantitative analysis, scientific programming, and coding-agent-assisted workflows to help improve the accuracy, reasoning, and technical capabilities of advanced AI systems. Candidates are expected to demonstrate deep expertise in at least one relevant STEM discipline rather than across all scientific fields.

Key Responsibilities

Scientific Research & Domain-Specific Problem Solving

  • Solve technically challenging scientific, mathematical, and quantitative problems within relevant STEM disciplines
  • Apply specialised knowledge in chemistry, biology, mathematics, physics, earth sciences, robotics, or related technical fields
  • Analyse complex scientific questions and translate detailed requirements into rigorous, well-structured solutions
  • Evaluate scientific assumptions, theoretical principles, physical constraints, and quantitative relationships
  • Contribute specialised subject-matter expertise to challenging AI training and evaluation assignments

Computational Analysis & Scientific Modelling

  • Develop analytical and computational approaches to scientific problems requiring mathematical reasoning and numerical analysis
  • Apply appropriate modelling, simulation, and quantitative techniques to investigate complex technical scenarios
  • Evaluate datasets, scientific measurements, and computational results for accuracy and consistency
  • Assess the suitability of mathematical methods, analytical assumptions, and numerical approaches
  • Develop reproducible scientific solutions supported by clear calculations, methodological explanations, and technical validation

Python Programming & Coding Agent Workflows

  • Use Python or other appropriate programming languages to perform scientific calculations, numerical analyses, and computational problem-solving
  • Apply coding agents to support technical reasoning, code development, debugging, and scientific workflow execution
  • Develop scripts, simulations, and reproducible computational solutions for domain-specific research problems
  • Utilise relevant scientific computing tools such as NumPy, SciPy, pandas, SymPy, Jupyter, or specialised domain libraries
  • Review computational implementations for correctness, efficiency, reproducibility, and consistency with underlying scientific principles

AI Training & Scientific Solution Evaluation

  • Review and evaluate AI-generated scientific, mathematical, and technical solutions for accuracy and completeness
  • Identify incorrect assumptions, reasoning errors, missing constraints, and subtle technical inaccuracies
  • Assess whether AI-generated answers follow appropriate scientific methods and satisfy specified problem requirements
  • Provide detailed feedback explaining technical errors, appropriate corrections, and alternative solution approaches
  • Contribute subject-matter expertise to improving AI performance across scientific reasoning, quantitative analysis, and computational tasks

Technical Validation & Research Quality Assurance

  • Validate scientific solutions through analytical reasoning, mathematical calculations, computational testing, or appropriate simulation methods
  • Review technical outputs for scientific consistency, reproducibility, and alignment with established domain principles
  • Identify methodological weaknesses, numerical inconsistencies, and incomplete analytical explanations
  • Produce clear technical documentation describing problem-solving approaches, assumptions, calculations, and evaluation findings
  • Apply rigorous quality standards to scientific research assignments, computational analyses, and specialised AI evaluation deliverables

Ideal Profile

  • Strong demonstrated expertise in at least one STEM or scientific discipline, including chemistry, biology, mathematics, physics, earth science, geoscience, environmental science, or robotics
  • Expertise in adjacent scientific, engineering, or quantitative disciplines may also be considered where directly relevant
  • Advanced academic qualifications such as an MSc or PhD are highly relevant, although equivalent demonstrated expertise may also qualify
  • Professional or research experience in scientific problem-solving, quantitative analysis, computational research, or technical engineering
  • Strong scientific, mathematical, and analytical reasoning capabilities
  • Practical proficiency with Python or another programming language used for scientific or technical computing
  • Experience using coding agents in scientific, computational, or technical workflows is required
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex domain-specific problems and develop accurate, reproducible technical solutions
  • Familiarity with numerical methods, mathematical modelling, scientific simulations, or quantitative research methodologies
  • Ability to identify incorrect assumptions, logical inconsistencies, computational errors, and missing technical constraints
  • Experience reviewing scientific calculations, technical analyses, or computational solutions for accuracy and completeness
  • Familiarity with scientific computing libraries such as NumPy, SciPy, pandas, SymPy, Jupyter, or relevant specialised tools is advantageous
  • Strong understanding of experimental reasoning, mathematical validation, and scientific problem-solving methodologies
  • Expertise developed through academic research, industry experience, teaching, engineering, or independent technical work is welcomed
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accurate, well-structured, and reproducible scientific analysis
  • Excellent analytical communication skills, including the ability to explain sophisticated scientific concepts and technical reasoning clearly
  • Ability to work independently and manage technically challenging assignments within a remote environment
  • Prior experience with AI model training or evaluation projects is advantageous but not required

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
