Job Description

  • New year, new career? Start with ACC on 18 January 2027
  • Enable our clients to focus on their rehabilitation rather than their finances
  • Join a supportive team with full training, ongoing coaching and opportunities to grow

About us | Mō mātou

ACC exists to support people - we help prevent injuries and get New Zealanders and visitors back to everyday life if they’ve had an accident.

You can find more about ACC and the work we do here.

About the role | Mō te tūranga mahi

As a Payments Assessor Level 1, you'll play an important role in supporting clients recovering from injury by ensuring they receive the right compensation, accurately and on time. By taking care of the financial side of recovery, you'll help enable clients to focus on getting their lives back on track.

In this rewarding role, you'll have ongoing opportunities to grow your skills and build your expertise across a range of payments activities. As your confidence and capability develop, you'll have the chance to take on increasingly complex work and broaden your knowledge.

Part of the role involves speaking with clients about payment decisions, including occasional conversations regarding overpayments. While we'll provide training and ongoing support from experienced leaders, it's important that you're comfortable having sensitive conversations and explaining complex information.

There is a set start date of 18 January 2027, and applicants must be available to commence full-time from this date. We are recruiting for multiple roles based in Newmarket, Hamilton, Timaru and Dunedin.

The appointing salary for this role is $61,766. ACC offers a comprehensive benefits package which at present includes an advantageous superannuation scheme (9% contribution) with features like no mandatory employee contribution, optional life and income protection insurance.

About you | Mōu

Previous experience in a high-volume processing environment would be an advantage, but prior payments experience is not essential. We provide comprehensive training and are looking for people who can assess information carefully, make sound decisions, communicate confidently, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

You will bring:

  • Strong judgement and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyse information and make well-reasoned decisions.
  • A customer-focused approach, including confidence building rapport by phone and taking ownership of customer enquiries and issues.
  • The ability to explain complex information clearly and confidently to a range of audiences.
  • Resilience and adaptability, with the ability to remain composed when priorities change and challenging situations arise.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy.
  • Confidence working in a fast-paced environment where work volumes and priorities can shift throughout the day.
  • Strong digital skills, including the ability to navigate multiple systems and learn new technology quickly.
  • You must hold New Zealand work rights at the time of application.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?
