Job Description

Kia ora!

Air New Zealand is on an accelerated journey to become the world’s leading digital airline. Our airport operations rely on critical systems working reliably behind the scenes. As a Senior Systems Analyst, you’ll help support and improve the systems that keep those operations moving.

You’ll work across business and technology teams to understand operational needs, investigate issues and deliver changes that make our systems more stable, efficient and fit for the future. The role is based at one of our airport offices and includes an on-call component when rostered.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Analyse complex applications and systems, recommend improvements, and develop functional specifications and business cases based on business requirements
  • Interpret data and reporting, sharing insights with stakeholders and senior leaders to support decisions and improve operational effectiveness
  • Act as a subject matter expert, advising the business on technical solutions and helping resolve issues to meet business objectives
  • Lead technical investigations and root cause analysis, working with business process owners, vendors and specialists across disciplines
  • Troubleshoot application and integration issues, including RESTful APIs, using tools such as Bruno and Kafka
  • Manage system configuration, maintenance, testing and change implementation to keep systems stable and aligned with operational needs
  • Manage relationships with software vendors and support partners to help resolve issues and maintain effective support
  • Monitor application health and contribute to support documentation, data patching and scripting

What you’ll bring

  • 5 - 10 years’ analytical experience in a complex environment
  • Experience supporting critical operational systems, ideally in a cloud environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of systems integration and experience troubleshooting API issues
  • Confidence leading issue investigations involving multiple teams and technology disciplines
  • Advanced analytical, business modelling and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication, including the ability to produce clear technical documentation
  • The ability to explain technical issues clearly and influence decisions at a senior level
  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, or equivalent industry experience

Experience with workforce or roster management software, such as Inform Groundstar or Jeppesen, would be an advantage. Experience in an IT operations environment is also valuable.

What’s in it for you

We want our people to live their best lives and access great benefits that support their lives outside work.

  • Discounted flights for you and your whānau, plus access to standby travel across multiple airlines
  • FlexiLeave, giving you the option to purchase up to four additional weeks of leave each year
  • A strong learning culture with ongoing development opportunities to grow your career

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
