Job Description

Kia ora!

Air New Zealand is on an accelerated journey to become the world’s leading digital airline. As a QA Engineer, you’ll join a high-performing product team at the centre of this transformation, helping deliver reliable software and shape digital experiences across the business. This 9-month fixed-term opportunity is a chance to bring your QA expertise to an iconic New Zealand brand and make a meaningful impact.

You’ll work across the software development lifecycle with engineers, architects, business analysts and other QA professionals. You’ll contribute to test automation, investigate defects and help teams build quality into the way they design and deliver software.

Key responsibilities

  • Take part in the development process from inception through to release, using Agile and Lean ways of working such as Scrum and Kanban.
  • Design, develop and run automated test scenarios based on functional and technical requirements.
  • Maintain and monitor automation and regression test suites, refactoring them to keep them reliable and useful.
  • Apply software engineering principles to test automation, with a focus on maintainability and reuse.
  • Investigate defects and work with the team to resolve issues and prevent them recurring.
  • Collaborate with architects, software engineers, QA professionals and business analysts to diagnose issues and shape software that supports effective testing.
  • Follow agreed processes, standards and guidelines for manual and automated testing.

What you’ll bring

  • Two to five years’ experience as a QA Engineer in a technology environment, or practical experience in a related technical discipline.
  • Experience with software testing, test automation and quality assurance tools and practices.
  • A good understanding of the software development lifecycle and experience working in an Agile or DevOps team.
  • The ability to design test approaches, investigate issues and solve problems in existing applications.
  • Experience working collaboratively in software product teams and managing dependencies across teams.
  • Clear communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with engineers, support analysts and other team members.
  • Experience with mainframe, middleware, midrange, desktop, native mobile, database or distributed system architectures would be an advantage.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
