If you care differently, you belong here.

Reporting to the Senior Director Medical Affairs Iberia, the Medical Director Dermatology Spain & Head of International Dermatology Medical Hub provides strategic and people leadership across two interconnected areas: the Spanish Dermatology Medical team and the International Dermatology Medical Hub.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Medical strategy and leadership

· Define, align and execute the Dermatology Medical Affairs strategy and annual medical plan for Spain, ensuring clear objectives, priorities, resources, milestones and impact measures.

· Provide medical and scientific leadership across the dermatology portfolio and lifecycle, translating unmet needs, evidence and stakeholder insights into actionable strategic priorities.

· Ensure alignment of the Spanish medical strategy with Iberia, Global Medical Affairs and relevant cross-functional plans, while safeguarding medical independence and scientific integrity.

· Lead the identification, prioritisation and monitoring of medical initiatives across medical engagement, evidence generation, medical education and scientific communication.

· Provide high-quality medical input into portfolio, launch, indication-expansion, access and lifecycle decisions, in accordance with applicable governance and compliance requirements.

2. Leadership of the Dermatology Medical team in Spain

· Lead, coach and develop the Medical Advisors for Immuno-Dermatology and Dermatology, and the MSL Manager responsible for the Immuno-Dermatology field medical team.

· Set clear objectives and accountabilities, build capabilities, support succession and talent development, and foster a high-performing, inclusive and engaged medical team.

· Ensure effective deployment of field medical resources based on medical priorities, stakeholder needs, geographic opportunity and the evolving evidence landscape.

· Promote consistent standards for scientific exchange, insight generation, activity planning, documentation and impact assessment across office- and field-based medical roles.

· Create an environment of empowerment, constructive challenge, continuous learning and collaboration, role-modelling Almirall’s values and leadership behaviours.

3. Leadership of the International Dermatology Medical Hub

· Lead the International Dermatology Medical Hub, establishing its purpose, governance, priorities, operating model and annual objectives in alignment with Global Medical Affairs and participating affiliates.

· Coordinate medical collaboration across countries to accelerate best-practice sharing, capability building, scientific consistency and efficient reuse or adaptation of high-value medical initiatives.

· Facilitate the co-creation of international medical projects, ensuring clear sponsorship, decision rights, roles, deliverables, timelines and measures of success.

· Connect affiliate needs and insights with Global teams, helping to identify common evidence gaps, educational needs, stakeholder trends and opportunities that merit international action.

· Build an active medical community across the Hub, enabling peer exchange, transparent communication and effective matrix decision-making without duplicating Global or local accountabilities.

4. External scientific engagement and stakeholder partnership

· Develop and oversee a strategic stakeholder engagement approach for national and priority regional experts, scientific societies, healthcare organisations, patient organisations and other relevant external partners.

· Build trusted, long-term scientific relationships with key external experts through balanced, non-promotional and evidence-based exchange.

· Ensure that external insights are captured, synthesised and translated into medical strategy, evidence plans, educational priorities and cross-functional decision-making.

· Represent Almirall Medical Affairs at appropriate scientific forums and act as a senior medical ambassador with external stakeholders, partner organisations and industry peers.

· Oversee the quality and scientific relevance of advisory boards, medical education, congress activities and other medical-led engagements.

5. Evidence generation and scientific communication

· Identify evidence gaps and shape the local and international evidence-generation strategy, including clinical research collaborations, real-world evidence, investigator-initiated research and other appropriate data-generation activities.

· Partner with Global and regional functions to ensure studies and evidence activities address meaningful scientific questions, patient needs and healthcare-system priorities.

· Oversee the dissemination of scientific evidence through congresses, publications, medical education and other appropriate channels, ensuring accuracy, balance and consistency.

· Ensure medical materials and scientific communications are robust, current, relevant to stakeholders and developed through the appropriate review and approval processes.

· Promote the effective use of data, insights and outcome measures to demonstrate the value and impact of Medical Affairs activities.

6. Cross-functional leadership and business contribution

· Act as a Senior Medical partner to Market Access, Marketing, Sales, Regulatory, Pharmacovigilance, Clinical Development and other functions, contributing scientific perspective and constructive challenge.

· Ensure strong medical contribution to cross-functional brand and portfolio teams, with clear priorities, timely decisions and shared accountability for appropriate outcomes.

· Contribute to the identification and assessment of business-development, partnership and portfolio opportunities from a medical and scientific perspective.

· Proactively communicate material medical insights, emerging evidence, external trends, risks and opportunities to relevant governance bodies and leadership teams.

· Collaborate across Iberia, Global and affiliate teams to simplify ways of working, improve execution and maximise the value of resources and capabilities.

7. Governance, compliance, budget and operational excellence

· Ensure all Medical Affairs activities are planned and executed in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, industry codes, company policies, SOPs and standards of ethical scientific conduct.

· Lead medical governance and appropriate escalation of safety, quality, compliance, data-privacy and reputational matters within the role’s remit.

· Own the medical budget and resource allocation for the assigned scope, prioritising investment based on strategic value, patient impact, feasibility and measurable outcomes.

· Establish relevant performance indicators and conduct regular reviews of progress, impact, risks and corrective actions for Spain and the International Dermatology Medical Hub.

Ensure operational readiness, high-quality documentation, inspection preparedness and continuous improvement across team processes and external medical engagements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

· Advanced degree in Medicine, Pharmacy, Life Sciences or another relevant scientific discipline. MD, PharmD or PhD preferred.

· Substantial experience in Medical Affairs within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, including senior leadership responsibility.

· Demonstrated experience leading and developing medical teams, including both office-based and field medical roles.

· Strong experience in dermatology and/or immunology, with the ability to interpret and communicate complex scientific and clinical evidence.

· Experience developing and executing medical strategies and plans across the product lifecycle.

· Experience in evidence generation, including clinical research and/or real-world evidence, and in scientific communication and publication planning.

· Proven ability to lead through influence in a matrix, multicultural and international environment.

· Experience managing budgets, external partners, medical governance and compliant operational processes.

· Strong understanding of the Spanish healthcare environment and relevant national and regional stakeholders.

· Fluent Spanish and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills. Availability for national and international travel.

The role is accountable for defining and delivering an integrated, evidence-based medical strategy that advances patient care, supports the dermatology portfolio and strengthens Almirall’s scientific leadership. Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
