THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director, Industry Events to lead AMD's global strategy, investment, and delivery across the third-party industry and partner-hosted events most important to our customers, partners, developers, and businesses.

In this highly visible leadership role, you will shape how AMD engages with the broader technology ecosystem, defining where we participate, how we show up, and how event investments drive business impact. Working across Business Units, Partner Marketing, Communications, Sales, Developer Relations, and regional teams, you will bring diverse priorities together into a cohesive global event strategy while leading a team responsible for delivering AMD's presence at some of the industry's most influential events.

THE PERSON:

You are a strategic marketer and leader who thrives in complex, highly matrixed environments. You bring a strong balance of business acumen, stakeholder influence, operational excellence, and team leadership. You enjoy building alignment across diverse groups, developing scalable programs, and translating business priorities into impactful customer and partner experiences. You are equally comfortable setting long-term strategy, evaluating investments, and working closely with teams to ensure flawless execution.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Industry & Partner Event Strategy: Define and lead AMD's global industry and partner event strategy, establishing the role that priority third-party and partner-hosted events play within the overall Event Marketing portfolio.
  • Portfolio Planning & Prioritization: Evaluate industry and partner event investments and recommend where AMD should invest, increase or reduce participation, consolidate activities, or exit based on enterprise relevance, audience opportunity, business and partner priorities, and performance.
  • Integrated AMD Presence: Bring together enterprise, Business Unit, regional, customer, developer, partner marketing, and communications priorities into cohesive AMD strategies for the most significant industry and partner moments.
  • Business Unit Alignment: Partner closely with Business Units to align event investments and reduce fragmented or duplicative participation while ensuring critical business needs are represented.
  • Partner Marketing Alignment: Partner with Partner Marketing and Channel leaders to align partner event participation with joint business plans, co-marketing commitments, and ecosystem priorities.
  • Operating Model & Scalable Programs: Establish the operating model for industry and partner events, including intake, prioritization, approvals, and the division of ownership between central and regional teams; sponsor scalable frameworks for partner roadshows and recurring event series that enable central ownership with local execution.
  • Standards & Frameworks: Set the objectives, audience priorities, participation models, and experience standards that guide strategy and delivery across the portfolio.
  • End-to-End Portfolio Delivery: Lead the organization responsible for translating strategies into annual programs and delivering AMD's presence across priority industry and partner events.
  • Industry, Organizer & Partner Relationships: Build executive-level relationships with event organizers and partner event teams to strengthen AMD's presence, positioning, speaking opportunities, and overall value from priority platforms.
  • Investment Management: Own portfolio planning, budgets, forecasting, and investment recommendations, including sponsorships, co-funded programs, and partner co-investment programs, including market development funds (MDF) and co-marketing funds.
  • Executive & Business Partnership: Serve as a senior advisor to Business Unit, Marketing, and Partner Marketing leaders on industry and partner event strategy, investment decisions, risks, and trade-offs, and prepare recommendations and updates for executive review.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner with Event Marketing, Content & Programming, Demo Experiences, Event Technology Operations, Global Event Operations, Communications, Developer Relations, Sales, regions, and other teams to bring industry and partner programs to life.
  • Performance & Optimization: Establish objectives and success measures across the portfolio, including shared measures with partners, and use performance insights to inform future participation and investment.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, develop, and grow a team of Senior Industry & Partner Events Managers, Industry Events Managers, and Coordinators, including hiring, coaching, and building a high-performing team.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Extensive progressive experience leading global industry events, partner events, experiential marketing, sponsorship, integrated marketing, or related portfolios
  • Extensive experience developing and delivering strategies for major global technology or industry conferences and partner-hosted events.
  • Demonstrated ability to bring multiple Business Unit and partner priorities together into cohesive enterprise programs.
  • Strong understanding of third-party event ecosystems, sponsorship models, co-marketing and MDF structures, event organizer relationships, and industry platforms.
  • Experience designing operating models and scalable programs, such as roadshows or multi-market event series, that enable central ownership with local execution.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing significant event, sponsorship, and co-investment portfolios.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and advise senior executives across highly matrixed global organizations and partner ecosystems.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Demonstrated people leadership and talent development experience, including leading senior individual contributors and managers.
  • Experience within technology, semiconductor, AI, enterprise, developer, or related B2B industries preferred.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
