THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced Event Operations Lead to lead the operational planning and delivery of complex, high-priority AMD events. This role will serve as the operational lead for assigned programs, translating established event strategy, audience requirements, and experience objectives into comprehensive operational plans and ensuring successful execution from early planning through onsite delivery and post-event closeout.

The successful candidate will operate with a high degree of autonomy, partnering closely with event portfolio owners, agencies, vendors, and functional teams to manage complex operational requirements, make informed scope and delivery tradeoffs, anticipate and mitigate risk, and deliver programs on time, within budget, and to AMD’s experience standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operational Program Leadership: Serve as the operational lead for assigned complex, high-priority events, owning operational planning and delivery from early development through onsite execution and post-event closeout.
  • Operational Planning: Develop the operational approach for assigned programs within established event and portfolio strategy, translating event objectives, audience requirements, and experience priorities into executable delivery plans.
  • Integrated Operations Planning: Lead planning across venue, production integration, registration, attendee flow, staffing, F&B, security, transportation, logistics, signage, accessibility, and other event requirements.
  • Program Partnership: Partner with event portfolio owners and functional teams to assess operational requirements, identify dependencies, and recommend approaches that balance experience objectives, budget, timeline, resources, and operational considerations.
  • Agency & Vendor Leadership: Lead operational agencies, venues, production partners, and suppliers for assigned programs, establishing clear scopes, responsibilities, timelines, deliverables, and performance expectations.
  • Budget & Scope Management: Develop and manage operational budgets, forecasts, scopes, and reconciliation for assigned programs and recommend appropriate tradeoffs when requirements, resources, or priorities change.
  • Operational Readiness: Establish readiness milestones, reviews, dependencies, escalation paths, and contingency plans and ensure operational workstreams are prepared for live delivery.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify operational, financial, safety, and execution risks and develop appropriate mitigation and contingency plans.
  • Onsite Leadership: Lead the onsite operational command structure for assigned programs, coordinating internal teams, agencies, venues, vendors, and stakeholders and making real-time decisions within assigned scope.
  • Cross-Functional Integration: Partner with Event Marketing, Content & Programming, Event Technology Operations, Demo Experiences, Strategic Partnerships & Sponsorships, and other teams to ensure operational plans support the integrated event experience.
  • Performance & Continuous Improvement: Lead operational post-event reviews, document lessons learned, and recommend improvements that can strengthen future programs and delivery practices.
  • Program Team Leadership: Provide program-level direction, coaching, and guidance to Event Operations Managers and Event Coordinators assigned to programs, without direct people-management responsibility.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Extensive progressive experience in event operations, event production, experiential marketing, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience independently leading operational delivery of complex, high-profile corporate events, conferences, or live experiences.
  • Deep working knowledge across venue operations, production integration, registration, attendee flow, staffing, F&B, logistics, security, transportation, and onsite event management.
  • Experience translating event strategies and experience requirements into comprehensive operational plans.
  • Experience managing significant event budgets, forecasts, scopes, agencies, venues, and supplier relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate with high autonomy and make complex scope, budget, resource, risk, and execution tradeoffs within assigned programs.
  • Proven ability to lead complex cross-functional teams, agencies, and vendors without direct reporting authority.
  • Strong risk-management, contingency-planning, and live-event decision-making experience.
  • Ability to effectively influence and communicate with senior business and functional stakeholders.
  • Strong financial management, judgment, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced event professionals.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in event management, marketing, communications, business, or a related field is preferred.

This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
