The posting

The Instructional Designer reports to the Digital Learning Manager and owns the shared learning experience for new franchise owners across the Authority Brands portfolio, along with network classes after contracted design work is handed over. This role maintains accurate, current, and teachable curriculum; improves it through classroom observation, learner data, assessment results, and facilitator feedback; and partners with subject matter experts and other instructional designers to keep learning aligned with evolving operations. The position is based in Atlanta, Georgia, follows a hybrid schedule with on-site class observation, requires up to 10% travel, and has no direct reports.

Authority Brands' training organization prepares new franchise owners across its portfolio of home-services businesses to open and run their businesses. Owners complete online pre-work, then attend live, hands-on training in Atlanta: a common core shared across the portfolio, followed by business-specific training. The common core may cover leadership, sales, marketing, finance, customer experience, call handling, people management, operational planning, and other foundational business practices. Contracted partners lead the initial curriculum design; the training team delivers the learning and owns the curriculum after handoff. Key Responsibilities

Review and accept the contractor's common-core curriculum deliverables against established design standards. Maintain facilitator guides, participant workbooks, presentation slides, eLearning, and assessments for the common-core curriculum. Attend classes on site, observe delivery, and translate observations into practical design improvements. Revise content based on learner evaluations, assessment results, and facilitator feedback. Partner with brand subject matter experts to keep learning content accurate as operations change. Develop teach-back guides and certification rubrics with the Director of Training. Maintain version control and current change logs for all assigned curriculum. Keep training broadly applicable across the portfolio while equipping facilitators with relevant examples from different home-services businesses. Collaborate with other instructional designers to define where common-core content ends and business-specific content begins. Support learning for new franchise owners across the portfolio and maintain network classes focused on sales, leadership, call taking, and management development.

Qualifications The ideal candidate combines adult-learning expertise, strong instructional design judgment, and practical experience developing instructor-led and digital learning for business audiences.

4 or more years of instructional design experience for adult learners, including instructor-led training and eLearning. A portfolio that includes facilitator guides, participant workbooks, and assessments. Working proficiency with eLearning authoring tools such as Articulate 360. Ability to work on site in Atlanta to observe classes. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Experience designing business content such as sales, finance, marketing, or leadership preferred. Small-business or franchise training experience preferred.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
