Job Description — QA & Support Analyst

Location: In-Office at Babylonstoren, Klapmuts, South Africa Type: Full-time, permanent

About Candide

Candide is an AI-first tech company based in South Africa and the UK, building the digital products behind hospitality and lifestyle estates including Babylonstoren, The Newt in Somerset and Vignamaggio. Our platforms span admissions and memberships, booking systems, mobile apps, websites, ecommerce and internal business tools.

AI is a core part of how we work. We invest in tools that help our team investigate problems, test software, automate repetitive work and learn faster. We expect you to use them actively, question their output and take responsibility for the quality of your work.

Role Description

You will help estate and internal teams get the most from Candide’s systems and help us release reliable software. You will investigate support requests, reproduce issues, test changes and keep people informed from the first report through to resolution. You will work across our product portfolio with Product Owners, engineers and colleagues in South Africa and the UK.

This is a junior role suited to someone with strong problem-solving skills, clear communication and a willingness to learn. You will have guidance from Product Owners and Engineers, with room to grow into quality engineering, product or technical support.

How you will use AI

Using AI is an everyday part of this role. We are looking for someone who already experiments with AI tools and wants to apply them to real work. You should be able to explain how you used a tool, what you checked and where its answer fell short.

  • Use AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini to explore unfamiliar systems, develop investigation ideas and make sense of technical information.
  • Use AI to draft test scenarios, explore edge cases, prepare test data and turn requirements into useful checks. Validate those checks against actual product behaviour.
  • Use AI to help write clear bug reports, support replies and knowledge articles, checking every technical claim before sharing them.
  • Identify repetitive tasks and, with engineering support, build reusable prompts, simple scripts or automations that improve QA and support.
  • Check AI suggestions against evidence, reproduce issues yourself and protect customer and company information when using AI tools.

Key Responsibilities

Support and investigation

  • Be a point of contact for estate and internal teams, clarifying requests, assessing impact and prioritising issues with Product Owners.
  • Investigate problems across user-facing applications and internal systems. Reproduce issues, gather evidence and distinguish defects from configuration, data or usage questions.
  • Resolve issues within your knowledge and access, and escalate others with clear reproduction steps, expected and actual behaviour, and relevant evidence.
  • Track issues through to resolution, verify fixes and keep stakeholders informed. Turn recurring questions into useful documentation and improvement opportunities.

Quality assurance and testing

  • Plan and carry out manual, exploratory and regression testing across web applications, mobile apps and connected workflows.
  • Work with Product Owners and Engineers to clarify requirements, acceptance criteria, edge cases and test coverage.
  • Help coordinate user acceptance testing with business teams, record results and support Product Owners in obtaining sign-off before release.
  • Maintain reusable test cases and report defects clearly. Help expand automated checks with AI tools and engineering guidance as your skills develop.

What We Are Looking For

  • Strong reasoning, attention to detail and persistence in understanding how a system works and why something went wrong.
  • Clear written and verbal communication in English and Afrikaans, including explaining technical issues to people without a technical background.
  • Practical use of AI tools for work, study or personal projects, with the judgement to verify results and recognise when you need help.
  • Confidence learning unfamiliar software, organising competing requests and following issues through to completion.
  • A collaborative approach, openness to feedback and honesty about what you know. Recent graduates and candidates with relevant practical experience are welcome.

Useful additional experience

Software testing or UAT; technical or customer support; Jira or similar tools; basic SQL, APIs, browser developer tools or scripting; and exposure to test automation or AI-assisted workflows. These are advantages rather than prerequisites.

Perks & Benefits

  • Market-related remuneration
  • Daily catered lunch
  • Choice of equipment
  • Training and conference budget
  • Access to Babylonstoren’s recreation centre, gym, swimming pool and studios
  • Estate discounts and free admission to Babylonstoren and The Newt in Somerset for you, and your family
  • Quarterly team socials

You will work with experienced colleagues, use AI tools in your daily work and see the impact of your contribution across a varied portfolio of international estates.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
