About Bavarian Nordic

Bavarian Nordic is a global vaccine company focused on helping to protect lives through innovative vaccines, public health partnership, and expanded access to disease prevention.

We work across emerging infectious diseases, travel health, and public health preparedness to help communities, healthcare providers, pharmacies, and health systems improve vaccine awareness, access, and delivery.

With a growing commercial portfolio and strong global partnerships, Bavarian Nordic is evolving how vaccines are supported across healthcare ecosystems — combining scientific innovation with customer engagement, education, and public health impact.

Position Overview

The Manager, North America Tax & Financial Compliance supports the Director, North America Finance in managing tax compliance, financial reporting obligations, and evolving regulatory requirements across the United States and Canada. This role coordinates federal, state, provincial, and other applicable tax estimates and filings; works directly with external tax advisers; and monitors business growth and operational changes to identify new or expanded reporting obligations. The position also supports healthcare professional and healthcare organization transparency reporting, environmental and sustainability-related state reporting, and other compliance activities within the North America Finance function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Tax compliance and planning: Support preparation, review, coordination, and timely filing of annual and quarterly U.S. and Canadian tax estimates, returns, extensions, and payments across federal, state, provincial, and other applicable jurisdictions
  • Canadian indirect tax and import reporting: Support GST/HST returns, remittances, reconciliations, and documentation, including import taxes and input tax credits. Coordinate applicable import VAT reporting, payments, and recoveries with external advisers and internal stakeholders
  • Tariff and customs duty compliance: Coordinate compliance for products ultimately sold in the U.S., including monitoring changes, assessing financial impacts, and managing calculations, payments, reconciliations, documentation, and reporting with advisers, customs brokers, and Supply Chain. Support Global Tax on other products as needed, without primary ownership
  • Supply Chain financial and entity alignment: Partner with Supply Chain to understand product and inventory flows and ensure transactions, costs, taxes, and compliance obligations align with the correct legal entity and jurisdiction
  • Tax provision support: Support current and deferred tax calculations, reconciliations, documentation, and information requests for period-end and year-end reporting
  • Regulatory monitoring: Track changes in tax laws, filing thresholds, nexus, registrations, and reporting requirements; assess additional obligations arising from business growth, new products, organizational changes, or geographic expansion
  • External adviser coordination: Act as a primary day-to-day contact for tax consultants, coordinating timely, accurate data, tracking open items, reviewing deliverables, and escalating risks or decisions to the Director
  • HCP/HCO transparency reporting: Support collection, validation, reconciliation, and submission of healthcare professional and organization spend data under applicable federal, state, provincial, and internal requirements
  • Environmental and sustainability reporting: Monitor and coordinate Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and applicable ESG, packaging, waste, recycling, and state sustainability reporting, including registrations, data collection, fees, submissions, and record retention
  • Financial compliance: Maintain compliance calendars, filing trackers, workpapers, approvals, and submission records; support balance-sheet reconciliations and controls for tax and regulatory accounts
  • State vendor compliance and financial applications: Support state vendor registrations, compliance submissions, and financial applications by validating financial and tax documentation, coordinating approvals, and tracking deadlines, renewals, and requirement changes
  • FSS award financial data support: Gather, validate, and provide financial data and documentation for FSS award submissions, reporting, and follow-up requests. Commercial Pricing and Contracting retains submission ownership
  • Audit and inquiry support: Coordinate responses to tax notices, audits, regulatory inquiries, and information requests with internal stakeholders and external advisers
  • Cross-functional partnership: Collaborate with Finance, Legal, Compliance, Commercial, Supply Chain, Procurement, Payroll, and other functions to ensure accurate, complete data and integrate compliance into business processes
  • Process improvement: Standardize, automate, and strengthen tax and compliance processes, controls, data quality, and management reporting
  • Emerging requirements: Research and support additional tax, financial compliance, transparency, and regulatory reporting needs as the North American business evolves

Key Relationships

  • Reports to the Director, North America Finance
  • Partners with North America Finance, Global Tax, Legal, Compliance, Commercial, Supply Chain, Procurement, Payroll, and sustainability stakeholders
  • Works with external tax advisers, reporting vendors, and regulatory authorities as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field; CPA, Canadian CPA, or advanced tax credential preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in corporate tax, public accounting, financial compliance, or a related field, preferably across multiple jurisdictions
  • Working knowledge of U.S. federal and state tax compliance; Canadian corporate tax and indirect or provincial tax experience strongly preferred
  • Experience coordinating external tax advisers and managing recurring deadlines and deliverables
  • Experience in HCP/HCO transparency reporting, life sciences compliance, EPR, ESG, or other regulatory reporting preferred
  • Strong analytical, reconciliation, documentation, and project-management skills with close attention to detail
  • Ability to interpret evolving requirements, assess business implications, and clearly communicate risks and recommendations to management
  • Strong Excel and financial systems proficiency; reporting automation or data visualization experience is an advantage
  • Demonstrated discretion with confidential financial, tax, employee, and third-party information

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
