Senior HR Business Partner, Medical Technologies
Bittium is looking for a Senior HR Business Partner to lead the people agenda for our medical technology business.
Medical technology is a different HR environment from the rest of our portfolio. The people questions are shaped by regulation: competence requirements and training records are part of the quality system, not just an HR process. The specialist roles — regulatory affairs, clinical, quality, software in a medical device context — are scarce and slow to fill, and the cost of getting a hire wrong is measured in delayed submissions rather than delayed sprints. This role exists because that combination needs someone who understands it.
You will sit close to segment leadership as their counterpart on everything involving people. You are expected to form your own view, bring it to the table, and say so when you disagree.
What you will own
The people agenda for the segment. You translate the medical technology strategy into workforce priorities: what capabilities the business needs as products move through development, certification, and market, where the gaps are, and how the organisation should be structured to close them. You own the plan and you are accountable for it landing.
Capability in a regulated environment. You make sure competence requirements, role definitions, training, and records hold up — both as real capability and under audit. You work with quality and regulatory colleagues so that HR practice and the quality management system fit together rather than run in parallel.
Access to scarce talent. You own how the segment attracts and keeps specialists in a market where the same small pool is contested. That covers positioning, sourcing strategy, retention, and succession for roles where a single departure creates real risk.
Complex employment matters. You lead the difficult cases end to end — change negotiations, performance and conduct matters, terminations, and disputes — working directly with employee representatives and external counsel.
Alongside the segment work, you take ownership of Group-wide HR initiatives and contribute to harmonising HRD and people processes across Bittium. You will also act as a senior voice within the HR team, supporting colleagues and raising the standard of how we work.
What we expect
- Master's or bachelor's degree in a relevant field, with current knowledge of HR practice
- Substantial experience in demanding HR roles, including several years as an HR Business Partner supporting senior leadership
- Proven track record in organisational development, talent management, succession planning, and leadership development
- Deep command of Finnish employment law and collective agreements, with hands-on experience leading change negotiations
- Experience operating in an international organisation, and comfort working across jurisdictions
- Fluent Finnish and English, with the credibility to influence at leadership level in both
- Confidence with HR systems and data; you use evidence to build your case.
Considered a clear advantage
- Experience in medical technology, or in another regulated environment such as pharmaceuticals or diagnostics
- Familiarity with competence and training requirements under a quality management system
- Experience recruiting for regulatory, clinical, or quality roles
- Background in the technology or industrial sector more broadly
What we are looking for in you
You have enough experience to know when the textbook answer is the wrong one. You see the business first and the HR process second, and you can hold a position under pressure without losing the relationship. You are comfortable with ambiguity, you set your own priorities, and you move between strategic work and hands-on delivery without needing that boundary defined for you.
You are curious about the products and the regulation around them, because in this segment you cannot advise well without understanding what the business is actually required to do.
You are direct, and you would rather raise a difficult issue early than manage its consequences later.
What we offer
A permanent position at our Espoo site, with the flexibility to work in a hybrid model. You will join a business where technology, regulation, and people work closely together, and where the decisions you influence are visible in products that reach patients and clinicians.
