The posting

At Bloomberg Industry Group, our UX & Design team is focused on building the next generation of AI-powered products that help professionals find trusted answers and engage in key workflows quickly and confidently. Our work powers Bloomberg Law, Bloomberg Tax, and Bloomberg Government, products used daily by legal, tax, and policy professionals.

We are seeking a Director of UX & Design to lead design across our product experiences. This role will define the design vision and operating model for our products, ensuring experiences are intuitive, efficient, and well aligned with the complex workflows of our professional users. This is a high-impact leadership role within our Core Product Experience Group.

You will shape the design organization, establish standards and systems for consistent, high-quality experiences, and ensure design contributes meaningfully to product outcomes and business impact. You will also champion modern, technology-enabled design practices that accelerate workflows, prototyping, and collaboration.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead and grow a team of product designers, establishing a high-performing, collaborative, and user-centered design culture
  • Drive alignment across teams and product areas to ensure consistent and cohesive user experiences across the portfolio
  • Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to shape product strategy and ensure design is integrated into roadmap and delivery decisions
  • Establish and evolve design systems, patterns, and standards to ensure consistency and scalability across products
  • Drive alignment across teams and product areas to ensure a consistent and cohesive user experience across Bloomberg Industry Group products
  • Ensure products are intuitive and efficient for professional users with complex workflows
  • Collaborate closely with User Research to incorporate customer insights into design decisions
  • Balance user needs, business goals, and technical constraints to deliver effective product experiences
  • Establish processes that improve design quality, speed, and consistency across teams
  • Leverage modern design and prototyping tools, including AI-assisted and spec-driven approaches, to accelerate iteration and improve collaboration with Product and Engineering
  • Provide hands-on guidance on critical product initiatives and high-impact user experience challenges
  • Communicate design vision and rationale clearly to stakeholders across the organization

You Need to Have:

  • 10+ years of experience designing user experience for complex digital products, with increasing scope and leadership responsibility
  • Bachelor’s degree in design, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Information Science, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience
  • Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing design teams
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating user-centered design for complex workflows or enterprise products
  • Experience working closely with Product, Engineering, and Research teams
  • Expertise in interaction design, information architecture, and usability best practices
  • Experience establishing or evolving design systems and standards
  • Experience using modern design and prototyping tools, with openness to adopting emerging technologies (e.g., AI-assisted design, rapid prototyping, or spec-driven workflows)
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills
  • Ability to influence product strategy, user experience direction, and business decisions through design

Compensation Range:

$215,000.00-$265,000.00

Placement in the salary range will be decided upon completion of the interview process. Salary determination will be determined based on factors including but not limited to relevant experience, demonstrated skills related to the requirements of the role, education, certifications, and geographic location.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
