About the role The Assembly Technician is a hands-on operational role responsible for managing the day-to-day warehouse, inventory, and material-handling activities required to keep production moving. The role also performs mechanical and basic electrical assembly work, including inspection and testing, based on operational and project requirements. Working closely with procurement, operations, and project teams, the position ensures materials and finished products are safely and accurately received, stored, assembled, documented, and prepared for shipment.

Key Responsibilities

Assembly and Production

  • Perform mechanical and basic electrical assembly using approved drawings, bills of materials, work instructions, and applicable procedures. Inspect completed work, perform basic functional or continuity checks where required, and document results before the product moves to the next stage.
  • Support the kitting of components and materials for assemblies prior to production
  • Monitor open orders and follow up on delays, backorders, or discrepancies

Warehouse Operations

  • Coordinate inbound and outbound warehouse shipments, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and proper documentation
  • Coordinate with carriers and freight providers to schedule pickups, deliveries, and resolve transportation issues
  • Inspect and verify incoming goods against purchase orders; manage discrepancies, damages, and returns
  • Ensure all shipping documentation (BOLs, packing slips, etc.) is complete and compliant
  • Monitor shipment status and proactively address delays or service issues

Inventory and Purchasing Support

  • Support Procurement in maintaining accurate inventory records within the system and ensure alignment with physical stock
  • Periodic inventory audits, investigating and resolving variances
  • Provide backup support to the Procurement by entering purchase orders, following up with vendors, communicating material status to project teams, and completing other assigned procurement tasks.

Coordination and Continuous Improvement

  • Assist Procurement as necessary to act as the key liaison between warehouse operations, assembly, procurement, and project teams for day-to-day material and production requirements
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and relevant shipping/regulatory requirements

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in warehouse, production, or technical operations, including demonstrated experience performing mechanical or basic electrical assembly in a manufacturing, engineering, or similar environment
  • Experience with, or the demonstrated ability to learn, receiving, inspection, storage, picking, packing, and shipping processes for materials and equipment
  • Ability to perform mechanical and basic electrical assembly using drawings, bills of materials, work instructions, hand tools, and power tools
  • Ability to safely operate, or be trained and certified to operate, forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, and other material-handling equipment before independent use
  • Working knowledge of inventory control, material identification, and discrepancy resolution
  • Commitment to safe working practices and the correct use of personal protective equipment
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to use basic measuring and test equipment, such as a tape measure and multimeter, to verify assembly quality, dimensions, continuity, and basic functionality.

Desirable

  • Experience assembling technical, instrumentation, or electromechanical equipment in a manufacturing, engineering, marine, offshore, or other project-based environment
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement, workplace organization, or lean manufacturing practices
  • Experience kitting components and materials accurately for assembly and production activities
  • Experience in a regulated or project-based engineering, manufacturing, marine, or offshore environment

Education & Professional Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • A post-secondary certificate, diploma, or coursework in mechanical, electrical, electronics, manufacturing, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • Relevant hands-on experience and demonstrated mechanical or electrical aptitude may be considered in place of formal technical education.

Physical and Work Requirements

  • Ability to regularly stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform hands-on assembly activities for extended periods. Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment within the weight limits established for the role, with reasonable accommodation where applicable. Ability to work in an on-site warehouse and light manufacturing environment, use required personal protective equipment, and work additional hours when operational or shipping demands require.
  • The regular work schedule and any overtime expectations will be confirmed during the recruitment process.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
