The posting

Als Marine Surveyor werk je in een dynamische omgeving waar geen dag hetzelfde is. Je onderzoekt uiteenlopende maritieme en lading gerelateerde vraagstukken, variërend van transportschades en laad- en losincidenten tot conditie-inspecties van schepen en lading. Je bent regelmatig aanwezig in havens, terminals en aan boord van schepen om ter plaatse feiten vast te stellen, analyses uit te voeren en klanten van deskundig advies te voorzien.

Op basis van jouw bevindingen stel je heldere en objectieve expertiserapporten op die een belangrijke rol spelen bij schadeclaims, aansprakelijkheidskwesties en juridische procedures. Daarbij combineer je jouw specialistische kennis met een praktische en klantgerichte aanpak.

De functie biedt een mooie afwisseling tussen veldwerk (zowel nationaal of internationaal), rapportage en klantcontact. Het planmatig bezoeken van (potentiële) klanten behoort ook tot de functie. Je blijft dan ook graag op de hoogte van de marktontwikkelingen en draag je bij aan de verdere groei en positionering van BMT in de markt.

Key Responsibilities

  • Zelfstandig uitvoeren van lading expertises bij transport- en ladingschades;
  • Onderzoeken van schadeoorzaken en vaststellen van aansprakelijkheden;
  • Opstellen van heldere, objectieve en kwalitatief hoogstaande expertiserapporten;
  • Adviseren en begeleiden van klanten gedurende het volledige schadebehandelingsproces;
  • Actief bijdragen aan de verdere ontwikkeling en positionering van de lading expertiseafdeling;
  • Onderhouden van duurzame relaties met verzekeraars, makelaars, transporteurs en logistieke partners;
  • Signaleren van marktontwikkelingen, commerciële kansen en nieuwe opdrachtmogelijkheden.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Een diploma Nautische wetenschappen of een vergelijkbare relevante opleiding;
  • Praktijkervaring aan boord van zeeschepen en/of ervaring binnen lading expertise en/of maritieme claimsbehandelingen;
  • Een commercieel instinct en het vermogen om opportuniteiten om te zetten in duurzame klantrelaties;
  • Uitstekende communicatieve en relationele vaardigheden;
  • Het vermogen om zowel zelfstandig als in teamverband succesvol te functioneren;
  • Een flexibele mindset en bereidheid om buiten de klassieke kantooruren te werken wanneer de situatie daarom vraagt;
  • Een goede beheersing van het Nederlands, Engels; kennis van Frans is een pré;
  • Rijbewijs B en bereidheid om regelmatig te reizen binnen België en internationaal.
