The posting

Company Overview

BotCity brings governance to the code AI writes. AI turned asking into code, and every business user is now a developer. The Python they generate runs on corporate workstations outside any pipeline, inventory, or approval flow, and nothing in the enterprise stack was built to see it. BotCity Sentinel governs that code where it runs: a script-level inventory of what executes, where, and by whom, contextual policies that allow, alert, or block, and a remediation loop where the author makes the first fix. Security asks whether code is malicious. Governance asks whether it should run, here, by this person. We built Sentinel to own the second question. Today it's Python. Tomorrow it's every line of code AI writes.

BotCity serves 1,000+ teams in 70+ countries, including customers as Bayer and LG. We raised a $12M Series A led by Four Rivers, with participation from Y Combinator, SoftBank, and founders and investors including Lew Cirne (New Relic), Rod Johnson (SpringSource), and Walter Kortschak (Summit Partners and Firestreak Ventures). G2 named BotCity one of the world's top 25 emerging platforms.

We are a remote company with teams across the US, Canada and LATAM. Small team, large customers, a category forming around us. If you want real ownership over a problem that matters, we should talk.

Role Overview

The Software Engineer will build and own the native Rust agent behind the BotCity product. The agent runs on customer endpoints across all major operating systems to track and govern the code that runs there. This person will keep it fast, stable, and lightweight, and help shape its architecture. This role is built for someone with deep production Rust and systems programming experience who can own hard low-level problems from start to finish in a small team. This role reports to the VP of Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, deploy, and maintain native applications and system-level components in Rust.
  • Ensure high performance, stability, and minimal resource consumption of software running on customer endpoints.
  • Work with product and other engineers to figure out what’s worth building and how.
  • Participate in technical design discussions and contribute to architecture and stack decisions for the agent.
  • Participate in code reviews, ensuring best practices in Rust and systems development.
  • Write clear technical documentation, ensuring effective collaboration across teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in software engineering with systems programming languages (Rust, C, or C++).
  • 3+ years of hands-on, production experience writing, deploying, and maintaining Rust applications.
  • Deep, practical understanding of Rust's ownership model, borrow checker, and lifetimes.
  • Expertise in Rust concurrency patterns, including multithreading, synchronization primitives, and asynchronous programming.
  • Ability to write safe, idiomatic Rust code and carefully manage unsafe blocks when required for performance or FFI (Foreign Function Interface) integrations.
  • Experience building native/desktop applications or system-level software (not only web back-end/front-end).
  • Solid knowledge of operating system internals (processes, threads, memory, IPC, file system), especially Windows.
  • Strong focus on performance, memory safety, and low resource consumption; experience profiling and optimizing code.
  • Prior experience in an early-stage, high-growth, fast-paced startup environment.
  • Git and GitHub, CI/CD, automated testing, cross-compilation/build pipelines for native binaries.
  • MS Office/Excel, Google Suite, Notion.
  • Ability to travel as needed to support events and meet the team.
  • Portuguese – Fluent.
  • English – Advanced.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Python (especially Rust ↔ Python integration, e.g., PyO3/maturin).
  • Robust knowledge ofSystem tracing, instrumentation, hooking/interception, or security/endpoint agents.
  • Hands-on experience of Windows, Linux and macOS internals; FFI and interoperability between languages.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
