KEY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

As Head of Legal, you will be the sole in-house legal resource at Bremont, providing hands-on, commercially focused legal support across the UK, US, Australia, and Hong Kong. This is a genuinely standalone role, and you will own the legal function entirely, operating with a high degree of autonomy and using your influencing skills to build trusted relationships across the business without a team behind you. This is a genuinely hands-on role, as the sole legal resource in the business, you will be as comfortable handling day-to-day contract admin and legal housekeeping as you are advising at a strategic level.

You will play a key role in reducing our reliance on external legal providers by building in-house capability, implementing scalable legal processes, and helping the business navigate risk as we expand globally. This is a unique opportunity for someone who thrives on independence, enjoys variety, and wants to shape the legal function from the ground up in a fast-growing British luxury consumer brand.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the review, negotiation, and drafting of commercial contracts, including supplier agreements, retail/distribution contracts, influencer/ambassador deals, and licensing arrangements.

  • Support international operations by ensuring legal and regulatory compliance in the UK, US, Australia, and Hong Kong, working with local advisers where needed.
  • Develop and implement internal legal processes, templates, and training to improve efficiency and reduce external legal spend.
  • Assist with brand protection, including trademark management and enforcement, and support on IP-related queries.
  • Provide guidance on marketing, e-commerce, and consumer law compliance.
  • Liaise with external counsel where specialist support is required, managing quality and cost.
  • Influence and engage stakeholders across all levels of the business from the C-Suite to operational teams, building credibility and trust to ensure legal considerations are embedded into business decisions.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • UK-qualified solicitor with 4+ years PQE, including solid experience in commercial law.
  • Proven experience in a standalone or sole in-house legal role is essential, you must be comfortable owning the legal function independently, without a team to delegate to or escalate within.
  • No task too small - you will be comfortable rolling up your sleeves and handling the administrative side of the legal function as readily as you engage on complex strategic matters.
  • Experience working within a consumer brand is strongly preferred whether in retail, luxury, fashion, consumer goods or a comparable sector. An understanding of the commercial and reputational dynamics of a consumer-facing business is key to success in this role.
  • Strong influencing skills with the ability to build credibility quickly, challenge constructively, and bring stakeholders along with you.
  • Familiarity with international commercial matters and a confident, pragmatic approach to navigating multiple jurisdictions.
  • Strong commercial instincts, able to balance legal risk with business objectives and give clear, decisive guidance rather than over-lawyering.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
