Position Summary The Millwright is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and alignment of industrial machinery and mechanical equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. This role performs preventive and predictive maintenance activities, diagnoses mechanical issues, and works collaboratively with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to minimize downtime and maximize equipment performance. The Millwright utilizes precision measuring instruments, technical drawings, and maintenance procedures to install, inspect, rebuild, and maintain equipment while adhering to all company safety policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate demonstrates strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing or industrial environment. Primary Responsibility
Read blueprints, layouts, diagrams, and technical manuals to determine installation, maintenance, and repair procedures. Level and align pump bases, motors, gearboxes, and rotating equipment. Level and aligned equipment such as compressors, turbines, paper machines, centrifuges, and pumps. Set impeller clearances on pumps and adjust fan blades as required. Measure and verify precision fits using precision measuring instruments. Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial machinery and mechanical equipment. Perform preventive maintenance on motors, pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, and other mechanical systems. Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment to complete maintenance and repair work. Remove and install valves, remove manways, and perform light piping work as needed. Conduct basic mechanical troubleshooting and support general maintenance activities in and around process areas. Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with plant policies, procedures, and safety protocols while working effectively as part of a team.
Qualifications
Minimum 4 years industrial construction/maintenance industry experience NCCER Certified Plus - Required Knowledge of reverse alignment (where required), different types of metals, different types of bearings, mechanical seals, tandem seals, compression packing, multi-stage pumps, vertical pumps, different types of drive coupling, cooling tower fan units, gearboxes and agitators, gas turbines (where applicable) steam turbines, centrifugal compressor, reciprocal compressor, machine shop equipment, hydraulic reading and IRD reading
