Job description

About the team

You’ll join our Shared Service Centre organisation, working as part of a global finance community that provides efficient, standardised and high-quality business services across bp. The team supports bp’s businesses through strong financial processes, controls and reporting, with a focus on accuracy, continuous improvement and excellent service. In this role, you’ll work closely with Finance, Country and Business teams, building relationships with stakeholders across an international organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working with financial data, solving problems and developing their expertise within a collaborative, international environment.

Key tasks

  • Support the monthly, quarterly and annual financial close, ensuring accurate and timely reporting in line with relevant accounting and Group reporting requirements.
  • Review financial information, perform reconciliations and support activities including Balance Sheet Integrity, intercompany reconciliations and Group Charges.
  • Support the annual audit process and help ensure financial statements and supporting information are accurate and complete.
  • Provide accounting and process expertise to colleagues, including guidance, training and support where required.
  • Work closely with Business, Country and Finance stakeholders to resolve accounting queries and issues effectively.
  • Monitor finance processes and provide accurate and timely management information and reconciliations.
  • Support relationships with internal stakeholders and external service providers, ensuring agreed service levels and quality standards are achieved.
  • Identify opportunities to improve finance processes and contribute to the development and implementation of solutions.
  • Provide financial and technical input into projects, system upgrades and process changes.

Experience Required

  • Strong knowledge of finance and accounting, developed through relevant professional experience and/or academic study.
  • Previous experience with financial close, accounting, reporting or reconciliation activities.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to review financial information accurately and identify issues.
  • Good English communication skills, with the confidence to collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders across an international organisation.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A university degree or recognised qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline would be advantageous, although relevant practical accounting experience will also be considered.
  • Experience supporting audit processes, particularly annual audits, would be beneficial.
  • SAP experience and previous experience within a multinational or international business environment would be an advantage.
  • A proactive, customer-focused mindset with a willingness to learn, take ownership and continuously improve processes.
  • Ideally, you will bring several years of relevant finance/accounting experience; however, candidates with less experience who demonstrate strong accounting fundamentals and development potential may also be considered.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
