About the Team & Mission:

Con Edison, a multibillion-dollar energy utility, is leading the clean energy transition in New York City and Westchester County. We are investing hundreds of millions of dollars annually to integrate distributed resources into our electric and gas systems, support electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and scale adoption of energy efficiency and clean heating technologies across our customers.

This is a great role to demonstrate your ability to drive results, apply cross-disciplinary skills to the clean energy space, collaborate closely with diverse teams, meaningfully support customers, and gain firsthand experience with the clean energy transition.

Role Overview:

The Clean Energy Manager will support the prevention, detection, and mitigation of regulatory, financial, compliance, and reputation risks in Distributed Resource Integration (DRI) organization which includes E-Mobility, Distribution Planning, Energy Storage, and Digital Products and Demo Teams. The individual will support the Compliance Section Manager to ensure that the department adheres to best practices, Company policies and procedures, regulatory rules and requirements in all aspects and levels of our business.

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Project Specialist to evaluate business processes, identify operational risks, drive efficiency through data-driven solutions, and help set and reinforce a strong culture of compliance. The role is ideal for a process thinker with strong analytical and research skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities

  • Create, update, and revise internal policies and procedures that ensure compliance-focused knowledge of department practices associated with program activity. Establish and document standardized procedures, including end-to-end timelines, dependencies, handoffs, communication protocols, and reporting expectations.
  • Track the implementation recommendations from audits, internal reviews, and regulatory filing requirements. Monitor and follow up with program teams to ensure continuous progress. Coordinate and contribute to the departments response to regulatory examinations, audits, and inquiries.
  • Analyze large and complex programmatic, financial, and operational datasets to identify issues, anomalies, and trends; and assess program performance, control effectiveness, and data integrity using both quantitative and qualitative techniques. Perform statistical sampling and quantitative analysis to design representative samples, analyze results, measure financial and operational impacts, identify trends, and assess program performance and data quality over time.
  • Establish and document standardized QAQC processes and procedures (SOPs), including end-to-end timelines, quality checkpoints, dependencies, handoffs, communication protocols, and reporting expectations. Define and apply clear QAQC decision criteria, including pass/flag/fail thresholds, cure requirements, and standardized corrective actions, ensuring consistent, defensible outcomes across reviews.
  • Regularly interact with all team members of the department and uses relationship skills to influence and achieve compliance objectives. Collaborate cross functionally with program, operations, finance, data, and policy teams to problem solve, incorporate findings into program design and operations, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Design and conduct targeted internal studies that simulate audits or formal evaluations (for internal use), such as assessments of overall program performance, incentive calculation accuracy, data quality, energy consumption, customer behavior.
  • Synthesize and communicate QAQC, risk, and evaluation findings through clear written reports, executive ready presentations, dashboards, and innovative data visualizations, presenting results on a recurring cadence (weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually) and highlighting trends, risks, control effectiveness, and actionable recommendations for program teams, management, and department leadership.
  • Support the departments compliance program by conducting risk assessments, developing risk logs, developing appropriate policies and procedures, CEO certification oversight and engaging in monitoring and training activities to enforce the objectives of the program.
  • Ability to create, organize, and update SharePoint sites including but not limited to calendars, documents, and overall maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, and perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 years' relevant work experience in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Engineering or equivalent or
  • Master's Degree and 3 years' relevant work experience in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Engineering or equivalent

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Master's Degree and 3 years' relevant work experience in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Engineering or equivalent

Relevant Work Experience

  • Ability to build positive relationships with colleagues who have a diverse set of experiences and approaches to drive business results, required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and organize large, complex data sets, required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage tense, complex, or technical internal customer issues in a calm, thorough, and professional manner, required.
  • Demonstrated agility and flexibility to deal with ambiguity and comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, required.
  • Strong communications, presentation and writing skills, required.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite (i.e. Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint), required.
  • Proven experience in financial analysis, business process analysis, risk management, auditing or operations improvement, required.
  • Proficiency in digital data collection and processing tools, required.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, required.
  • Previous auditing or compliance-based experience, preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks based on financial impact and organizational goals, required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and commitment to continuous improvement, required.
  • Experience designing dashboards, metrics and reporting frameworks, preferred.
  • Internal Customer-oriented mindset and collaborative working style, required.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Driver's License Required

Additional Physical Demands

  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
