ABOUT THE ROLE

Join a venture-backed legal technology company as its founding commercial counsel. You will advise startup clients on commercial agreements and help shape how commercial legal services are delivered through software and repeatable workflows.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Draft, review, and negotiate MSAs, SaaS agreements, NDAs, DPAs, vendor contracts, and other commercial agreements.

- Advise founders and in-house teams through calls and Slack, providing practical, stage-appropriate guidance on legal risks.

- Own client relationships, serve as a trusted commercial counsel, and meet agreed turnaround commitments.

- Turn negotiation positions, fallback terms, and review standards into playbooks and AI-supported workflows, with approximately 30 to 40% of the role focused on platform work.

- Help develop the commercial practice, support onboarding future attorneys, and contribute to product development.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

- Approximately 5 to 8 years of commercial contracts experience, including meaningful in-house experience at a startup or technology company.

- A JD and active bar membership in good standing in a US jurisdiction; California or New York admission is preferred.

- Hands-on experience drafting, building templates, and negotiating SaaS agreements, MSAs, NDAs, DPAs, and vendor deals.

- Strong knowledge of market terms for liability caps, indemnity, intellectual property, data, and termination, with the judgment to explain tradeoffs clearly.

- A client-friendly approach and experience advising founders or in-house teams directly.

- Experience using AI tools in legal practice and interest in codifying legal judgment into workflows.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?

No. You pay once per CV, from $25. Every application goes out with its own CV, written for that posting.
