The posting

We are seeking an experienced Access Control Service Technician to support ongoing service and maintenance work involving access control systems, door hardware, and integrated security systems across commercial customer environments.

This role supports a wide range of facilities, including retail, office, warehouse, distribution center, healthcare, and industrial locations. The Access Control Service Technician role is primarily service-focused, with technicians typically home most nights and limited overnight travel compared to project-based positions.

This position is well-suited for a hands-on Access Control Service Technician or Lead Service Technician who enjoys troubleshooting, working independently, and serving as a technical point of contact in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Service, troubleshoot, and maintain access control systems in commercial environments
  • Diagnose and repair card readers, door controllers, panels, power supplies, locking hardware, and related devices
  • Troubleshoot door issues including mag locks, electric strikes, request-to-exit devices, and door position switches
  • Perform system testing, programming adjustments, and device replacements as needed
  • Respond to service calls across multiple customer locations and facility types
  • Read and interpret service documentation, blueprints, riser diagrams, and site drawings
  • Repair or replace damaged access control devices, wiring, and associated components
  • Coordinate with IT teams when addressing network-connected access control systems
  • Maintain accurate service reports, documentation, and customer sign-offs
  • Communicate professionally with customers, site contacts, and internal teams
  • Follow all safety standards, customer requirements, and OSHA guidelines

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an Access Control Service Technician, Security Technician, or Lead Service Technician
  • Strong hands-on background in access control systems, door hardware, and low-voltage security systems
  • Experience performing service work, troubleshooting, and corrective repairs on active systems
  • Familiarity with major access control platforms (Lenel, Genetec, Software House, Honeywell, Avigilon, etc.) preferred
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in customer-facing environments
  • Working knowledge of NEC and industry best practices for low-voltage security systems
  • Ability to read and interpret prints, wiring diagrams, and service documentation
  • Comfortable working in ceilings, confined spaces, and active facilities
  • Ability to operate ladders, scissor lifts, and boom lifts (as required)
  • Strong communication skills and a professional customer-service mindset
  • Must have basic low-voltage tools, PPE, and reliable transportation
  • Valid drivers license with a clean driving record

Compensation & Benefits:

  • $20–$25 per hour, based on experience and technical capability
  • Steady service-focused work with limited overnight travel
  • Company-paid medical, dental, prescription, and vision coverage
  • Life insurance, AD&D, and long-term disability insurance
  • Paid vacation and holidays
  • MD Live and TriaHealth programs
  • Company-matched 401(k) and IRA retirement plans
  • Mileage and drive time reimbursement when using a personal vehicle

Why Work With Us:

This role offers consistent, long-term access control service work without extended travel. Technicians who succeed here enjoy stable hours, strong benefits, customer-facing responsibility, and the opportunity to grow into lead-level service roles while supporting high-quality commercial access control and security systems.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
