The posting

The AV Lead Technician is responsible for leading field installations, overseeing technical execution, and ensuring successful project delivery from rough-in through final commissioning.

This is a contract-to-hire opportunity paying $30–$35 per hour. The ideal candidate is a strong technical leader with proven experience installing, troubleshooting, and commissioning AV systems while managing small to mid-size crews in commercial environments.

You will serve as the on-site technical authority, coordinating workflow, supporting project management, and ensuring installations meet scope, timeline, and performance expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead AV system installations from start to finish, including rack builds, device installation, cable pulls, terminations, and system commissioning
  • Supervise and direct field technicians and subcontractors to maintain production and quality standards
  • Read and interpret AV drawings, signal flow diagrams, rack elevations, and construction documentation
  • Install and oversee installation of displays, projectors, speakers, microphones, control systems, and network-based AV components
  • Troubleshoot system issues efficiently and implement corrective solutions in real time
  • Coordinate with project managers and other trades to maintain schedule alignment
  • Ensure proper labeling, cable management, and rack organization standards
  • Provide hands-on training and technical guidance to junior technicians
  • Maintain accurate site documentation and daily progress reporting
  • Promote a safe, professional, and organized job site environment

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience leading commercial AV integration projects
  • Strong knowledge of AV systems, signal flow, rack builds, displays, projection systems, and control platforms
  • Experience commissioning and troubleshooting integrated AV systems
  • Ability to read and execute from construction drawings and system schematics
  • Experience managing field crews on active commercial job sites
  • Working knowledge of IP-based AV systems and basic networking concepts
  • OSHA certification preferred
  • Industry certifications such as CTS, Crestron, Extron, Biamp, or similar are a plus
  • Strong communication skills and leadership presence
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work on ladders or lifts

Benefits and Compensation

  • $30–$35 per hour based on experience
  • Competitive benefits available upon permanent hire
  • Professional growth within a strong technical team

Why Work With Us

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
