Project Superintendent

Location: Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Job Type: Full-Time

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Project Superintendent to oversee field operations for large-scale commercial construction and data center infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, project coordination, scheduling, budgeting, quality control, and safety management skills, along with experience in structured cabling or telecommunications infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and enforce jobsite safety practices, company policies, and client requirements.
  • Coordinate with project managers, field supervisors, and lead technicians to plan project schedules, material procurement, and resource allocation.
  • Provide leadership, supervision, and guidance to field employees and technical teams.
  • Support training initiatives to ensure compliance with industry standards, installation practices, and safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with project managers, estimators, contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders to meet project specifications and customer expectations.
  • Coordinate with project schedulers to maintain accurate labor forecasts, resource allocation, budgets, and project timelines.
  • Conduct regular jobsite inspections to verify construction quality and compliance with project specifications.
  • Organize jobsite resources to improve efficiency, productivity, and project execution.
  • Develop and maintain technical training materials, standard operating procedures, and work instructions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve project efficiency, reduce costs, and increase profitability.
  • Establish project performance metrics and monitor progress against established goals.
  • Support continuous improvement and Lean initiatives across project operations.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and communicate progress, risks, and technical issues to stakeholders.
  • Travel to project locations as required.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of commercial construction experience; structured cabling experience is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of supervisory, team leadership, or employee training experience.
  • Experience with large-scale data center infrastructure projects, including quality and safety requirements.
  • Knowledge of structured cabling systems, construction practices, building codes, and industry standards.
  • Experience coordinating schedules, prioritizing assignments, and managing field resources.
  • Ability to monitor construction budgets and align spending with project estimates.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and learn new technologies.
  • Strong teamwork, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications and Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field.
  • BICSI Certified Technician certification.
  • PMI Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM).
  • Fiber Optic Association CPCT certification.
  • Experience with data center construction, structured cabling, and infrastructure quality management.
