EXECUTIVE HOUSEKEEPER
DEPARTMENT: Housekeeping / Rooms Division REPORTS TO: Director of Rooms / Hotel Manager / General Manager STATUS: Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Executive Housekeeper is responsible for the overall leadership, operation, and performance of the Housekeeping Department, ensuring exceptional standards of cleanliness, presentation, and service throughout the hotel. This role sets and maintains luxury or boutique hotel standards, oversees staffing and budgeting, and collaborates closely with Rooms Division leadership to deliver a refined and consistent guest experience.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:
Lead and oversee all housekeeping operations, including guest rooms, public areas, laundry, and back-of-house spaces.
Establish, implement, and maintain luxury cleanliness, presentation, and service standards.
Develop staffing plans, schedules, and labor controls to align with business needs.
Recruit, train, coach, and evaluate housekeeping leadership and team members.
Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms and public areas to ensure adherence to standards.
Ensure room readiness and cleanliness in coordination with Front Office and Director of Rooms.
Oversee inventory management, including linens, supplies, amenities, and equipment.
Ensure timely preparation and delivery of guest amenities, special requests, VIP items, and service recovery amenities.
Manage departmental budgets, expenses, and cost controls.
Monitor guest feedback, inspection scores, and service metrics to drive continuous improvement.
Ensure compliance with brand standards and company policies.
Oversee safety, sanitation, and environmental compliance within the department.
Collaborate with Engineering, Front Office, and other departments to support hotel operations.
Address escalated guest concerns related to cleanliness, room condition, or service recovery.
Lead sustainability and eco-friendly initiatives within housekeeping.
Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned at the discretion of the manager. Furthermore, tasks and responsibilities may be added or revised based on the volume of business and the need for the work to be completed at the present time.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Extensive housekeeping leadership experience in a luxury or boutique hotel environment.
Strong knowledge of housekeeping operations, labor management, and quality control.
Proven ability to lead, develop, and motivate large teams.
Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and inventory control.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Ability to analyze data, inspections, and guest feedback to drive results.
Professional demeanor with strong problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with housekeeping systems and reporting tools.
Bilingual or multilingual a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the property for extended periods.
Ability to use computers, phones, and standard office equipment.
Ability to inspect guest rooms and public areas.
Must wear required personal protective equipment per job responsibilities
