Job Description
This position reports to and supports Dr. Megan Falke on a variety of research, educational, and administrative initiatives. The Research Assistant will contribute to research projects, scholarly dissemination, participant engagement, and project coordination while receiving mentorship in research methods and academic writing.
Essential Functions:
- Conduct and support research activities, including literature reviews, data collection, data management, and qualitative and/or quantitative analysis in accordance with study protocols and IRB requirements.
- Assist with scholarly dissemination efforts by preparing research summaries, manuscripts, presentations, abstracts, reports, and other academic or educational materials for publication and presentation.
- Coordinate research project operations, including participant recruitment and engagement, scheduling, maintaining study records, monitoring timelines, and supporting project deliverables.
- Provide administrative and program support to research and educational initiatives, including maintaining databases, preparing correspondence, organizing meetings, and collaborating with faculty, students, and community partners.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Master's degree or Doctoral degree completed or current enrollment in a graduate program in Nursing or a related discipline preferred.
• Prior experience supporting research activities such as data collection, qualitative or quantitative analysis, literature reviews, IRB submissions, project coordination, or scholarly writing preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical research standards and Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocols.
• Working knowledge of research methods, data management, and qualitative and/or quantitative analysis techniques.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with research software such as REDCap, Qualtrics, NVivo, or SPSS preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented academic environment.
• Strong initiative, reliability, adaptability, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate is a recent graduate of Creighton University or a graduate student in Nursing or a related field who possesses:
• A strong foundation in research design, implementation, and best practices.
• Experience using research and data management platforms.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and social media platforms.
• Excellent academic writing, editing, and communication skills.
• An interest in qualitative research, nursing education, healthcare workforce development, or community-engaged scholarship.
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative research team.
