About the role

Crunchyroll is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis, to support its global Merchandise lines of business. Reporting to the Director, FP&A, this role will serve as a key finance partner to business leaders across Consumer Products, Home Entertainment, Collectibles and E-commerce.

The Senior Financial Analyst will support the full FP&A cycle, including budgeting, forecasting, monthly reporting, performance analysis, and long-range planning. The role will help business owners understand financial performance, identify risks and opportunities, and make informed decisions regarding revenue growth, product investment, inventory, profitability, and resource allocation.

The ideal candidate combines strong financial analysis and modeling capabilities with commercial curiosity and the ability to operate across licensing, retail, physical products, and direct-to-consumer business models. Experience with consumer products, entertainment, retail, or e-commerce would be particularly valuable.

We are considering applicants for the location of Los Angeles.

A day in the life of our FP&A Senior Analyst:

You will handle the monthly analysis of actual business performance, working with accounting and business teams to consolidate and interpret financial information. With your excellent interpersonal skills, you will need to build strong relationships across all levels of the company. You will need to produce ad hoc analysis, and help drive efficiency and improvement across Finance and Accounting.

  • Lead and coordinate budgets, forecasts, and long-range plans for the Merchandise lines of business.
  • Build and maintain financial models covering revenue, gross profit, operating expenses, and inventory.
  • Develop financial assumptions in partnership with business owners, including unit volumes, pricing, royalty rates, product costs, distribution costs, returns, markdowns, and product release timing.
  • Support scenario planning and sensitivity analysis for new product launches, licensing arrangements, retail programs, and strategic investments.
  • Ensure forecasts appropriately reflect product seasonality, release schedules, customer ordering patterns, and inventory lead times.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages covering actual performance against budget, forecast, and prior year.
  • Produce clear variance analysis across revenue, gross profit, operating expenses, inventory, and contribution margin.
  • Work closely with Accounting to support accurate and timely monthly and quarterly closes.
  • Coordinate with Sony Pictures finance, sales, operations, and distribution stakeholders where responsibilities are shared across the companies.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, automate, and improve forecasting, reporting, and performance management processes.

About You

As our FP&A Senior Analyst you will own the delivery of accurate, timely and insightful performance analysis of Crunchyroll’s Merchandise portfolio. You will be instrumental in putting together the global picture and implementing best practice, working closely with stakeholders across multiple global teams to understand the context behind the numbers and embed consistent reporting and process.

  • 5+ years of experience in highly analytical environments (e.g. FP&A, Accounting, Consumer Products)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience with FP&A processes, including budgeting, forecasting, monthly reporting, variance analysis, and financial modeling.
  • Experience analyzing revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, and business performance drivers.
  • Experience within consumer products, intellectual property licensing, entertainment, media, retail, physical products, or e-commerce.
  • Ability to interpret financial results and translate them into clear commercial insights.
  • Advanced financial modeling skills, ideally with Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
  • Strong AI tool acumen and ability to drive business insight, analysis and modeling
  • Experience using NetSuite, Adaptive, Board, or other enterprise software.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
