The posting

About the School

NFLS British Columbia Academy (NFLS-BCA) was founded in 2002 and provides secondary education as a Canadian offshore high school in China. The school is accredited by Canada’s British Columbia Ministry of Education and by the Jiangsu Ministry of Education. British Columbia Academy at NFLS has earned and maintained a very strong reputation. This is due to the high academic achievement of NFLS-BCA students and the successful placement of previous NFLS-BCA graduates into top universities in Canada and elsewhere.

The Opportunity

Dipont Education invites applications for a Music and Computer Science Teacher for the 2027–28 academic year. The successful candidate will teach AP Music Theory or BC Contemporary Music 12, alongside AP Computer Science Principles (AP CSP) where possible. As music teaching expertise is our primary priority, we are particularly interested in candidates who can teach music alongside computer science or another complementary subject.

In this role, you will inspire students to develop their musical knowledge, analytical skills and creative expression through rigorous, engaging music instruction. You will encourage learners to explore musical structures, composition, harmony and critical listening, while helping them develop a deeper understanding of music and its applications. Alongside music, you will support students in developing computational thinking, problem-solving and digital literacy through computer science education.

This position offers the chance to:

  • Teach motivated, high-achieving students preparing for study at leading global universities.
  • Deliver engaging music lessons through AP Music Theory or BC Contemporary Music 12, with opportunities to teach AP Computer Science Principles.
  • Collaborate with an international team of educators and college counsellors.
  • Contribute to a developing programme that values both creative and technological learning.
  • Enhance your professional portfolio in a supportive and forward-looking environment.

About You

We are looking for a teacher who has:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in Music or a closely related discipline, with a strong academic background relevant to music teaching.
  • The ability to teach AP Music Theory or BC Contemporary Music 12.
  • The ability to teach AP Computer Science Principles or another complementary subject would be a significant advantage.
  • Eligibility to obtain a British Columbia Certificate of Qualification (CoQ) or an Independent School Teaching Certificate (ISTC), in accordance with the applicable certification requirements.
  • A Bachelor of Education with a specialisation in Music would be ideal. For candidates without a BEd or PGCE, a master's degree is preferred, subject to meeting British Columbia certification requirements.
  • A commitment to creating an engaging, inclusive classroom that encourages musical creativity, analytical thinking and student participation.
  • Willingness to participate fully in the wider life of the school, including co-curricular activities and academic enrichment.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
