The posting

At eBay, we're more than a global ecommerce leader — we’re changing the way the world shops and sells. Our platform empowers millions of buyers and sellers in more than 190 markets around the world. We’re committed to pushing boundaries and leaving our mark as we reinvent the future of ecommerce for enthusiasts.

Our customers are our compass, authenticity thrives, bold ideas are welcome, and everyone can bring their unique selves to work — every day. We're in this together, sustaining the future of our customers, our company, and our planet.

Join a team of passionate thinkers, innovators, and dreamers — and help us connect people and build communities to create economic opportunity for all.

The Team

eBay's Selling Experience Team builds the native iOS and Android experiences that help millions of sellers create and publish listings. We're transforming this critical part of the marketplace through AI-powered listing tools, camera and image-based experiences, and simpler workflows that help both new and experienced sellers succeed.

Our team works closely with product, design, and engineering partners to deliver customer-facing features at scale, with a strong focus on experimentation, quality, and rapid iteration.

The Role

We're looking for a hands-on iOS Tech Lead - Sr. MTS to drive the technical direction of our iOS listing experience. You'll lead architecture and product delivery, write production code, solve complex engineering challenges, and coach a small team of iOS engineers.

This role combines approximately equal parts hands-on engineering and technical/team leadership. We're looking for someone who brings strong independent judgment, challenges assumptions constructively, and enjoys building products as much as leading engineers.

What You Will Accomplish

  • Lead the architecture, development, and delivery of large-scale native iOS experiences used by millions of sellers.
  • Help modernize our listing tools through AI, camera, image/video, and other native device capabilities.
  • Remain hands-on with Swift development, code reviews, debugging, and technical problem-solving.
  • Drive multiple concurrent initiatives while balancing delivery speed, technical quality, and long-term maintainability.
  • Mentor and lead iOS engineers, fostering strong engineering practices and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with product, UX, and engineering teams to shape technical direction and deliver impactful customer experiences.
  • Improve application performance, reliability, testing, and development efficiency.

What You Will Bring

  • 12+ years of native iOS development experience, including technical leadership or engineering mentorship.
  • Deep expertise in Swift, iOS frameworks, application architecture, concurrency, and design patterns.
  • Experience building and shipping complex, high-traffic, consumer-facing iOS applications.
  • Strong architectural judgment, problem-solving skills, and experience making technical trade-offs.
  • Experience with backend API integration, application lifecycle management, and production debugging.
  • Ability to lead engineers, influence technical decisions, and communicate effectively across teams.
  • A hands-on, product-focused mindset and comfort operating in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have

  • SwiftUI, Combine, or The Composable Architecture (TCA) experience.
  • Experience with on-device AI, camera functionality, or image/video processing.
  • Automated testing, CI/CD, and mobile experimentation experience.
  • Formal people management experience.
  • Consumer internet, marketplace, or other large-scale mobile product experience.

Why Join This Team

Build at the heart of eBay's marketplace. Listing is where the selling journey begins. The experiences you build will directly influence how easily millions of people can participate in ecommerce.

Shape a major product transformation. We're reimagining the listing experience with AI, native device capabilities, and more intuitive seller workflows. You'll help define and ship these experiences rather than simply maintain an established system.

Own meaningful technical decisions. You'll have significant influence over iOS architecture, engineering practices, and technical direction across the Listing domain.

Lead while staying hands-on. This role offers the opportunity to grow and mentor engineers without stepping away from the technical challenges you enjoy solving.

See your work reach customers. Our teams move quickly, experiment frequently, and deliver improvements to a large global user base. You'll have the opportunity to connect engineering decisions directly to meaningful customer and business outcomes.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
