Job Description

Ready to see your security systems expertise bring a new power station to life? Join EDF at Hinkley Point C and play a vital role in delivering one of the UK’s most complex commissioning programmes. Here, your impact matters because Success is Personal.

The Opportunity

This role is a full time, permanent position based on site at Hinkley Point C.

As a Commissioning Engineer, you’ll play a key role in supporting the Security and Communication Team in delivering safe commissioning activities at Hinkley Point C (HPC).

Reporting to the Lead Commissioning Engineer and Commissioning Manager, you’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams and play a visible role in commissioning activities across the site.

This is an exciting opportunity to influence the development of nuclear security practices on a new nuclear power station. You'll receive company training, gain exposure to complex technical challenges, and help establish standards and ways of working that could shape future EPR and nuclear commissioning projects across the UK.

Pay, Benefits & Culture

In addition to a very competitive salary we offer a competitive benefits package, including a company pension scheme, and a wide range of flexible benefits to suit your lifestyle.

At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.

Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.

We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we support you to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Review and prepare commissioning documentation.
  • Witness Factory Acceptance Tests at supplier’s premises.
  • Carry out surveillance activities of contractor’s installations and commissioning tests.
  • Carry out on site commissioning tests.
  • Implement security protocols whilst carrying out commissioning tests.
  • Provide advice and support to commissioning teams during system and station wide testing.

Who You Are

We're looking for a Commissioning Engineer who is security bias, motivated to learn, and passionate about applying security principles in a complex engineering environment.

Essential

  • Electrical Engineering qualifications, HNC or equivalent, with extensive experience in the field.
  • Able to gain and hold security vetting level to SC.
  • Experienced working with IP Based networks.
  • Experience with CCTV Systems, Access Control systems, Intruder Detection Systems.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
