Why This Role Matters
Hansen Technologies is looking for a strategic and detail-oriented Product Owner to join our dynamic R&D team in Columbia, SC. In this pivotal role, you will champion critical R&D investment projects for the Hansen Customer Information System (CIS) product. You will anchor the business side of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), ensuring that complex market and customer needs are seamlessly translated into top-tier enterprise software solutions.
As a Product Owner, you will take ownership of the product backlog, guiding features from initial concept through to final delivery. You will work hand-in-hand with dedicated Scrum teams, providing the clarity, direction, and solution designs necessary to maintain high velocity and deliver exceptional value to our clients.
What You’ll Do
- SDLC Business Leadership: Drive the business-facing elements of the development lifecycle for Hansen CIS R&D projects, ensuring alignment with broader product strategy.
- Requirements & Solution Design: Gather and synthesize complex business needs into clear, comprehensive requirements and actionable solution designs.
- Backlog Management & Grooming: Take full ownership of the product backlog. Write clear, detailed user stories with precise acceptance criteria, and conduct regular backlog grooming sessions.
- Scrum Team Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional Agile Scrum teams (developers, QA, and Scrum Masters) on a daily basis to clarify requirements, clear roadblocks, and ensure successful sprint deliverables.
- Stakeholder Alignment: Act as the primary bridge between business stakeholders and the technical teams, managing expectations and ensuring the final product meets the defined business objectives.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in sprint reviews and accept/reject completed user stories to ensure the highest quality standards are met before release.
What You Bring
- Proven experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar role in an enterprise software environment.
- Deep understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to write clear user stories, define requirements, and conceptualize solution designs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering customer value.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical audiences.
- Familiarity with Customer Information Systems (CIS) or the utility/telecom billing sector is a strong plus.
