The posting

Company Description Etsy is the global marketplace for unique and creative goods. We build, power, and evolve the tools and technologies that connect millions of entrepreneurs with millions of buyers around the world. As an Etsy employee, you will tackle unique, meaningful, and large-scale problems alongside passionate coworkers, all the while making a rewarding impact and Keeping Commerce Human.

We believe exceptional companies are built by exceptional teams, and we're intentional about it. That means hiring great people, setting them up for success from day one, and giving them real reasons to grow their careers here. We invest in development that goes beyond promotions, and we foster the trust and relationships that help people do their best work together.

What’s the role?

We’re looking for a MarTech Systems Specialist to join Etsy’s Retention & Engagement Marketing Operations & Insights team. You will be responsible for the technical systems that let REM launch campaigns, investigate bugs, and improve workflows with our engineering and product partners. Your goal will be to drive faster campaign delivery with fewer bugs and less dependence on Engineering using the latest MarTech advancements.

You will work with Marketing, Product, and Engineering partners to take technical work that today sits between teams and make it owned: bug intake through resolution, workflow automation, and tooling that supports experimentation and personalization. You will also spend part of your time building campaigns in Braze alongside the development team, but the rest will be spent making the systems around those builds more reliable and self-sufficient.

The ideal candidate is a technically fluent MarTech specialist who can diagnose a broken send, explain the root cause to a non-technical partner, and change the workflow so that class of issue does not come back — and who stays up-to-date on emerging tools and industry standards to keep improving how we work.

This is a full time role reporting to the Senior Manager, Retention & Engagement Marketing.

What’s this team like at Etsy?

REM Operations & Insights is a group of technical marketers who develop, QA, deploy, and analyze cross-channel marketing campaigns targeting millions of Etsy buyers. The team owns the marketing technology, campaign quality, analysis, and process work that drives REM’s operation, experimentation, and personalization efforts.

What’s the day-to-day look like?

  • Own bug intake, triage, follow-up, and resolution processes across REM Ops and Engineering reporting channels. Use resolved bugs to improve build, QA, and alerting workflows.
  • Learn and diagram technical processes, looking for and prioritizing areas for potential improvement.
  • Develop proposals for continuously improving our use of technical tools to improve the customer experience, unlock access to data, reduce manual work, and save money.
  • Build written documentation and live trainings to suit the needs of experienced developers, new team members, and adjacent partner teams.
  • Stay up to date on marketing technology and AI advancements and guidelines to inform future development by reading documentation, keeping informed about news, and attending conferences.
  • Of course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require! You should assume that your role will encompass other tasks, too, and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at Etsy’s discretion, or otherwise applicable with local law.

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:

  • 5+ years in marketing operations, marketing technology, or a technical CRM/ESP role, with a track record of owning platform issues end-to-end.
  • Strong proficiency with one or more enterprise marketing automation platforms (e.g., Braze, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Iterable, etc.). Braze experience and/or certification is highly preferred.
  • Experience with HTML/CSS, and scripting languages such as Liquid.
  • Familiarity with APIs and data integration best practices—prior experience with Postman or other tools for QA is a plus.
  • Ability to make highly technical knowledge accessible to users from a variety of technical and non-technical backgrounds via excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Capacity to understand different colleagues’ needs and priorities and communicate appropriate levels of detail and information to match seniority and technical capability.
  • Aptitude for keeping work organized and on-track while maintaining high quality output.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with shifting priorities.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
