globe - we keep it personal

Our client is a deep-tech startup developing proprietary bioelectrochemical technology to significantly enhance biomethane production within existing anaerobic digestion infrastructure. By retrofitting rather than replacing, the company enables rapid market deployment of its solution. Scaling toward Series A, it operates at the frontier of a still-evolving field, driven by a clear mission: advancing energy justice through sustainable and accessible energy.

Your Responsibilities:

* Contribute to and support the execution of the scientific strategy guiding the development of the company's innovative bioelectrochemical technology

* Define, identify, and prioritize key scientific and technical questions related to process performance, scalability, and commercial implementation

* Design and steer research programmes in a rapidly evolving field

* Plan, conduct and interpret experiments focused on electrode-microbe interactions, methane production pathways, and reactor performance

* Translate scientific outcomes into concrete decisions that accelerate technology development

* Collaborate closely with laboratory and engineering teams to move the technology forward

* Maintain a strong scale-up perspective, critically assessing laboratory results for industrial and real-world applicability

* Potentially oversee the biological research team, depending on experience

Your profile:

* Demonstrated expertise in applied bioelectrochemistry, including a thorough understanding of electrode-microbe interfaces in mixed-culture environments

* In-depth knowledge of anaerobic digestion microbiology: methanogenic pathways, community dynamics under electrochemical stimulation, and sources of process instability

* Proven ability to design experiments that generate commercially scrutiny-proof data

* Strong scale-up awareness; ability to critically assess the transferability of laboratory findings

* Self-directed and decisive under uncertainty, with the ability to set direction and communicate effectively across disciplines

* Entrepreneurial mindset: you take ownership, think beyond the laboratory and you are motivated by real-world impact

* Strong commitment to the mission of energy justice and sustainable energy systems

* Experience in leading multidisciplinary teams is an advantage

* Excellent command of English, written and spoken is essential

* Open for travelling to partner sites across Europe and the UK

What we offer:

* Minimum salary of €105,000 gross/year (full-time, Austrian collective agreement - Gewerbe, Handwerk und Dienstleistung); overpayment based on qualifications and experience

* Equity participation: an opportunity to contribute to and share in the company's long-term success

* Attractive and evolving employee benefits package

* A central role in turning cutting-edge technology into reality

* A highly entrepreneurial environment with real influence and visibility

* A lean, high-calibre team where individual contributions have immediate and visible impact

* Flexible working hours and remote working options

We welcome applications from scientists eager to shape the future of sustainable energy!

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
