Job Description

The candidate is expected to be a senior Teradata Developer for EDW/Data Mart Systems & should possess broad technical, architectural knowledge in Teradata to develop, enhance, administer and support large data platform spanning across Business Data landscapes, Data Warehouse Systems to make business applications more streamlined and performant to meet Production cycle SLAs.

Responsibilities

Lead data engineering strategy across projects. Drive innovation in practices and optimization. Represent team in executive meetings. Develop long-term data plans.

-Hands on experience in Teradata development and proficient with BTEQ scripts, ability to understand complex logic based SQLs, joins & Procedures.

-Must know Teradata Utilities Mload, FastLoad, TPUMP, FastExport, BTQMAIN, TPT Wrappers.

-Should have in-depth understanding of Teradata architecture & concepts - PE, Bynet, Vdisks, AMPs, Vprocs, Indexing, Hashing, Data Distribution/Duplication.

-Ability to choose the correct Indexes for a Database - NUPI, UPI, NUSI, USI to support Load and Extract Data operations to achieve optimal performance for storage and access to the Database.

-Experience in understanding Spool Space, Amp Skewness, Hot AMP issues and providing solutions to overcome it.

-Should be able to work with TDBA/Teradata Admin to understand solutions provided & transform it to technical/application level to implement the same to improve SQL performance.

-Hands on experience in using performance tuning techniques - Collect Stats, usage of Partitioned Primary Index, Join Indexes, use of Secondary Indexes, avoiding FTS/all AMPs access operation.

-Expert in optimizing I/O & Storage Performance thru MVC/ALC/BLC.

-Responsible for implementation and ongoing administration of Teradata infrastructure Solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-scale data warehouse solutions using Teradata.
  • Develop complex SQL queries, stored procedures, macros, views, and scripts to support business requirements.
  • Perform Teradata database design, physical and logical data modelling.
  • Create and optimize ETL/ELT processes for data extraction, transformation, and loading.
  • Analyse source systems and perform data mapping, data profiling, and data validation activities.
  • Monitor and optimize query performance, workload management, and database utilization.
  • Work with business analysts, architects, and stakeholders to understand reporting and analytics requirements.
  • Support Teradata database upgrades, migrations, and modernization initiatives.
  • Implement data quality, data governance, and security best practices.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and provide timely resolution.
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and data lineage documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Execute test scripts against the modified scripts under supervision. You understand the role of testing and how it works.
  • Deploy the refined solutions to the Prod after Testing & UAT/BAT.

Qualifications

Eligibility:

• Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 7-12 years of IT experience • Hands on experience in Teradata development and proficient with BTEQ scripts along with Database Tuning experience. • Strong database concepts • Excellent communication skill. • Solution orientation and problem-solving skill • Strong analytical ability • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
